Meet Big Boy.

Big Boy is an unknown aged assumed male Umbrella Cockatoo.

Big Boy is really just learning how to be a cockatoo. His previous life didn't offer much chance for being a "normal" cockatoo in captivity, so he doesn't really know what to do with himself yet.

Big Boy is learning how to play, dance, destroy paper, and scream with the best of them, in true cockatoo fashion!

He has not shown any aggression towards anyone, but he is VERY unsure of humans right now. He WILL let you give him some scritches from the safety of his cage at this time. Big Boy needs a human he can learn to trust, and once that happens, Big Boy is very likely to be an amazing companion!

Multiple visits are required - please expect to make at least 5 trips to work with your bird prior to bringing them home.

Meet City!

City is an approximately 10 year old male Senegal parrot. He does show some cage aggression, which is common with the Senegal species, but once away from his cage, he is a total cuddle bug! He loves to be scritched on his cheeks and all over his head. He loves nuts, specifically almonds and cashews.

He is a very animated boy who loves to mimic and makes several noises such as a dog barking, various whistles, spaceship noises, and more. He is a little chatterbox when he's comfortable and happy.

Welcome to 2025! Let's start the year off with someone ADORABLE!

Meet Snickers. Snickers is a 10+ year old assumed male cockatiel.

As you can see, Snickers likes the bare shoulder look. It's not known why he started plucking that area, but we still think he's the CUTEST, and we all adore him here!

Snickers is a sweet little guy who, once he's warmed up to you, will beg for all the scritches and even offer up some kisses. Snickers has quite a personality, and we have no doubt that his forever flock will enjoy every second with him!

On this last evening of 2024, we thought we'd give you a short 2024 recap.

In 2024, we:

- Brought onboard our new Caretaker, Hillary.
- Took in 22 surrenders
- Adopted out 26 birds
- Boarded 152 birds
- Brought onboard 10 new regular volunteers and 7 new occasional volunteers
- Had 5 groups of students come spend a day with us, taking on projects and extra cleaning
- Held 5 trim sessions
- Received countless donations, monetary and much needed items

Once again, THANK YOU all for everything you do to help us do what we do!

We look forward to sharing an AMAZING 2025 with you all!

It's the second to last day of 2024, and we want to take a moment to once again say THANK YOU for all of your generosity and support this year.

We have been incredibly overwhelmed this year by you all, and we couldn't possibly even begin to express our gratitude. Truly, without you all, we couldn't do what we do.

We hope that each and every one of you has the most amazing 2025 you could ever dream of! We look forward to meeting some of you, volunteering alongside some of you, helping some of you find your new flockmates, and everything else 2025 has in store!

Happy Adoption Day to Akio!

Akio has been here a little over a year, but he finally chose his new flock and will get to spend the New Year in his new forever home!

We're so happy for Akio and can't wait to hear how he blossoms at home!

Meet Star.

Star is a 20+ year old assumed male Bare Eyed Cockatoo.

Star has some SERIOUS personality! He is funny, goofy, charming and loveable. Unfortunately, Star also some major cage aggression right now, but our volunteers have been working with him to help him overcome that.

Star will need a human with patience, consistency, and the ability to handle the screams of a cockatoo. Someone who can read parrot body language and the ability to work on training are super important with Star.

Star will need a home with no children under 12 years of age. To meet Star, a complete questionnaire is required.

We really can't believe Teegan & Bernie are still here!

Meet Teegan & Bernie.

These two adorable budgies are a bonded male and female pair. Bernie HAS laid eggs and their new humans will need to watch them and ensure they don't have a nest opportunity available to them. As long as that's taken care of, Bernie doesn't lay eggs. They get super excited about nesting opportunities and will quickly take advantage of it.

Teegan and Bernie are not currently hand tame but they show zero aggression towards hands or any other part of humans. They have great potential to hand tame. They are EXCELLENT fliers.

Teegan and Bernie are the cutest and will fill your days with joy and your home with beautiful bird song chirps!

These two sweethearts must go home together. Don't you want to add them to YOUR home?

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through FFSR, Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

The stockings were hung in the lobby with care,
In hopes that Santa Claws soon would be there;

The birds were nestled snug in their cages,
While visions of millet and cashews danced in their heads;

The boarders and quarantine room Had just settled down for a long winter’s nap, When out in the parking lot there arose such a clatter, Arthur sprang from his perch to see what was the matter. Away to the lobby door he flew like a flash, Stared out the glass door and into the night.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave lustre of mid day to objects below,
When, what to Arthur’s wondering eyes should appear, But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny parrot reindeer,

With a little old cockatoo driver, so lively and quick, Arthur knew in that moment it must be Santa Claws!

More rapid than eagles, his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

Now, Casper! Now, Koda! Now, George and Max! On, Reggie! On, Charlie! On, Betty and Bill!
To the top of FFSR! To the top of the aviary!
Now fly away! Fly away! Fly away all!

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky, So up to FFSR's roof the coursers they flew, With the sleigh full of parrot toys, and Santa Claws too.

And then, in a twinkling, he heard on the roof
The prancing and dancing of each little talon. As Arthur was turning around, Down the chimney Santa Claws came with a bounce.

He was dressed in all feathers, from his head to his toes, And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot; A bundle of toys he had flung on his back, And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes - how they twinkled! His dimples how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his beak like a cherry! And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;

The stump of millet he held tight in his beak,
And the seeds it expelled encircled his head like a wreath; He had a broad face and a little round belly, That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of mash.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old cockatoo, And Arthur squacked when he saw him, in spite of himself;

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Soon gave Arthur peace to know he had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk, And laying his toe aside of his beak,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He bounced to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But Arthur heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

🎶🎵 On the twenty-fourth day of December, my true love gave to me, a chatty festive Gabby!🎶🎵

Meet Gabby.

Gabby is an approximately 25 year old male Umbrella Cockatoo.

Gabby would do best in a home with no other animals and one or two humans at most. Gabby does have a tendency to pick one person as a favorite and reject others.

Gabby loves to whistle, dance, and sing his special "lah lah lah" song. Gabby loves to be wrapped up in a towel and cuddled.

To meet Gabby, a complete questionnaire is required.

All cockatoos require a house without children under 12 present.

MULTIPLE visits are required - please expect to make AT LEAST 5 trips to work with your bird prior to bringing them home.

🎵🎶On the twenty-third day of December, my true love gave to me, one more crazy cockatoo!🎶🎵

Casper is a roughly 23 year-old male Umbrella Cockatoo. Casper has been at the sanctuary for almost all of the last 10 years. He has experienced 5 homes in his life. Like all cockatoos, and all birds, he can be extremely noisy. When he is not getting the attention he expects, he can be very demanding. Sweet Casper is looking for his forever home and a human who can give him the patience and understanding he deserves.

Casper's dream home is one where he can be the center of attention. He loves to dance, run around, and most importantly -- he loves to snuggle! This sweet boy will melt on your arm, lap, or wherever he's able to get closest to you.

Casper loves brand new toys more than anything else. Even if they aren't new, if the toy is new to him, he will play with it until it cannot be used again. He loves to chew, throw toys and test them to their fullest. Whether its a block of wood, a hanging phonebook, or a shiny new bell - you can bet he'll be infatuated with it!

Casper is in need of a home with no children under twelve and no cats or dogs. For more information on why we have this rule, send us a message. He is an extremely sweet boy needing an experienced bird handler. We will not be able to accommodate any adoption requests for cockatoos for those who have no bird ownership experience.

🎵🎶On the twenty-second day of December, my true love gave to me, a festive Sydney Too!🎶🎵

Sydney is a male Umbrella Cockatoo who is estimated to be in his late twenties. He is a very sweet and outgoing cockatoo who loves to be pet and engaged with.

Sydney, once he has warmed up to you, could sit on your arm or lap for hours while you tell him what a sweet bird he is. He is a total snuggle-bug!

He has been at the sanctuary for a couple of years now and has made so many friends- both people and birds.

He can be extremely loud at times and tends to scream when he is upset or being ignored. This is a typical trait with many cockatoos, especially those that are larger species such as Umbrellas and Moluccans.

Sydney will require a home with no children under 12. Large bird experience is required when adopting any cockatoo, as they are very difficult birds to own long-term and keep satisfied.

Meet the Budgie Five Pack.

This is Sweetie, Bart, Lil Girl, Jerry, and Mango.

These five sweethearts are all bonded and will go to their home together with their large cage.

They aren't too fond of being handled, but they don't mind interactions in their cage, which leads us to believe that they would likely be willing to work on that with their new human(s).

These five must go to a new home together, so if you're looking for an instant flock, these adorable little ones are waiting for you!
