Attention Dirty Paws Customers:
Unfortunately, the times we are living in now, businesses, specifically small/locally owned businesses are suffering and taking a hit with the changing economy which has caused many to have to close their doors for good. What most don’t see is the “behind the scenes” effects we suffer as a company. With increased prices on our store lease/insurance, increased prices on our products/tools as well as dealing with limited availability to get these products, many of which are consistently on back-order and have constant shipping delays; the strain put on our business and staff is at an all time high. In order for us to stay open and in business to be able to provide our services to you and your pets, changes have to be made.
Starting February 1st, we will be re-evaluating every pets’ groom price and adjusting as needed. Many factors will go into this decision such as the size of your pet, the type of haircut, type of hair coat, amount of dematting/deshedding, behavior, the time the groom takes, etc. What most people don’t realize is the work that goes into every groom. We strive to make this the best experience possible for your pet. A nervous or poorly behaved dog takes much longer to groom as we don’t want to make the experience any worse for them and add unneeded stress. This takes more space on our schedule and limits the amount of customers we can take that day. Also, breeds such as Doodles are very time consuming as the type of haircoat has to be handled certain ways in order to achieve the proper haircut. Similarly, thick/double-coated breeds such as Huskies, Golden Retrievers and even German Shepherds, etc, take extra time due to the amount of time it takes to dry them and to loosen up/remove all the undercoat and properly deshed them.
We strive to provide every pet with the time they need to have the least stressful and most comfortable grooming experience. We do not rush a pet as some corporately owned grooming facilities do in order to fit in the highest amount of dogs per day. Therefore we can not survive on the same prices as these places do. Our schedule is made comprehensively in order to account for every specific dog we have on the books for that day. As I'm sure everyone has seen an increase in prices at all businesses in the last 2 years or so, restaurants, retail stores, grocery stores, hardware stores, etc; in order for us to survive, we are forced to do the same. While we know and understand the struggles all of us are facing in these times, if we do not change along with everyone else, we will not be able to keep our doors open and continue doing business. This may not affect every pet, as we will be evaluating each pets’ current price individually based on the factors stated above but we wanted to inform everyone of the reasons behind this decision. We are sorry for any inconvenience and hope to continue providing our service to the community.
Thank you and best regards,
The staff at Dirty Paws Dog Spa
