Wrena Robertson…….

This precious little life was placed in my hands at a mere 2 weeks old. So fragile yet such a strong little personality this girl had a tiny 1lb. 11oz. the day I got her. Wrena.. born on September 21, 2014, shared her birthday with a dear friend that we lost the year before, and his name was Wreno Wynne.

Because of her age, Wrena went to work with me every day in her special little kennel with its little heating pad to keep her warm and so I could feed her every couple of hours. Her first harness was a tiny kitten harness, and she took right to it as well as walking on her leash. She soon graduated to a stroller that I would decorate for whatever holiday or event we were going to and always matched her fancy hats, tutu’s, bows, and jewels! She would stand so still so I could paint her pretty little hooves and add the tiniest of little bows to her tail tassel. She garnered attention everywhere we went. She did not like her admirers to pet her, but they could certainly give her treats that she enjoyed. We went on cross country road trips together, stayed in hotels, walked on beaches, and ate on many patios with spectacular views while on our adventures!

One thing that not many people knew was that Wrena suffered with respiratory issues her entire life which ultimately caused severe scarring on her lungs which made breathing difficult at times. A little over a year ago she was diagnosed with severe Osteoarthritis that was in every joint all the way down into each toe of her hooves and was in constant pain and having mobility issues. Around this time, we treated her for yet another bad respiratory infection that just did not seem to get any better. Wrena went down to Texas A&M for a CT Scan and extensive x-rays, while there, her Doctor discovered a fleshy growth in her esophagus that was partially blocking her airway. They were not sure if this had been caused from the years of respiratory issues or if this was congenital. All we knew was that she was never going to get better and all that could be done was to medicate her to manage her pain and to try and enable her to have quality of life for whatever time we had left.

Well sadly to say, her meds and therapies are no longer giving her the pain management needed and her breathing is labored, drinking, and eating are becoming a struggle for her with the fear of aspiration being a daily stressor. It has been decided that Wrena’s quality of life has deteriorated to the point that I see her beginning to suffer and my love for her will not allow this to continue and progress. We will be helping Wrena cross the Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday, July 2nd at 4:00pm. To say I am sad, is such an understatement but my love for this little gal is far greater and I know that this is the kindest thing I can do and will be my final act of love for her. She will be laid to rest near Turbo, Cindy Lou Who and Charlie.

Please say a prayer for Wrena’s peaceful passage into her next life, strength for me to shoulder this grief and a prayer for Dr. Dan who has taken care for her since her first visit to him at 2 weeks old to her last visit at 9 ½ years old.

Foster Babies Ren and Stimpy are at Wills Point Animal Clinic today for their long awaited Neuters. These two were brought to Be Forever Loved Rescue/Sanctuary by Eastern Snouts and will soon be available for adoption through Eastern Snouts. They are bonded and would be great to see them adopted together. Sweet Kune mix boys. Follow along for updates on these lads!!! Also, both organizations named above are 501c3 non profit charities and rely on donations to continue to help animals in need. Pigville is simply fostering and caring for them.

Fireworks are terrifying not only for our pets but also livestock and wildlife and let’s not forget our Vets with PTSD. These explosions are not fun or enjoyable in any fashion.

Annie’s dad just sent me these videos of her and her shelled brother, Eugene sharing some salad this evening. Eugene is around 20 years old and Sulcatas live to be about 80 years old so he is just a teenager!! He weighs in at about 80-90 pounds and can get up to about 150!

I am at work in Terrell and I can tell you that even though I pulled over under cover this morning in my way to work and sat for an hour while the storm came through was an event. I pulled over about 10 minutes from where I work and by the time it had passed and was becoming daylight, it took me another hour to get into the office because of downed trees blocking roads and flooded roads. Tommie from Be Forever Loved went over to check on Pigville and the babies and everyone was safe and tucked into their houses. No one has any power but so far we are safe. Please check in as you can and please ask for help if you need it.
