Balto was created, in an effort to make a positive change in the RGV and stand for the rights of animals and the most vulnerable members of our community. Growing up in the RGV and seen the lack of interest by authorities to enforce the law that protects animal rights, she created this group. To put an end to animal and domestic violence and exterminate barbaric practices of animal cruelty like ro

oster fighting and dog fighting and more important promote the enforcement of laws that are set in place to protect those that can't defend themselves.

📌. CLEAR THE SHELTERS -- IT'S THE LAST WEEKEND!

Since the beginning of our Clear the Shelters event on August 23rd, 271 animals have been adopted at PVAS. Can we get to 300 adoptions by the end of the event?

We have so many great dogs who are just waiting for their chance, like Tiger, Howie, Malcom, Sheila, Johnathan, Yogi, and Dexter, who are all members of one of our fabulous dog play groups at our Andrews Center (2451 N. US Expressway 281).

Fee-waived adoptions for Clear the Shelters run through September 19, so come on down to the shelter and see the hundreds of animals available for adoption. A $50 fully refundable deposit may be required if the pet has not yet been spayed or neutered.

You can see all our available pets at www.pvastx.org/adopt!
The shelter is open daily from 11-7 for adoption.

Special thanks to partners 📺 NBC and Telemundo 40 for sponsoring this event every year!

Don't let hurricane season put you and your pets out! Unpredictable summer weather can cause flooding or unforeseen damage to fencelines and homes, which may cause your pets to go running scared.

PVAS has decided it's a great time to get your pets microchipped, so in case your little loved ones get out, there will be a means to contact you as their rightful caretakers.

Now through July 5th, pet microchips are only $5 at both our Trenton and Laurie P. Andrews Center. No need for an appointment, simply visit one of our centers with your pet on a leash or in a carrier, and one of our animal care technicians will be happy to assist you!

Our centers are open daily between 11am and 7pm.
