Since 2016 , hundreds ( if not thousands) of puppies have been saved from the local high kill shelters. We have reached bottom , we are in the red , trying to figure out even how to feed the puppies still in my care , it’s been very difficult to get them out of south Texas .
This are some of the puppies still in my care , all of them survived the high kill shelters , some parvo and distemper, they are healthy and playful puppies .
Please give them a paw , we can pick up from the local tractor supply , or you can choose from the Amazon wishlist , dry food and p*e pads are the most needed at the moment .
As of right now , I’m not sure if I can continue with this mission . I feel hopeless and defeated.

Tara….
Rescued with her sister from a high kill shelter back in March .
Unfortunately parvovirus took her sister away, but Tara survived, she fought hard, and she won the battle , and she started growing and thriving, she’s about 6 months old now , full of life and energy and very affectionate, and she has nowhere to go .
She’s not a small cute little scruffy , and yet, she deserves a loving home , doesn’t she ?
And here’s when I feel defeated , cases like hers , what to do when puppies like her, or black puppies , mutt puppies are at risk of euthanasia?
Why is it that they are less appealing? If the love that they give is the same ? Why is it that people are so focused on the little ones , fluffy and scruffy ones ? Why are those seen and Tara and others like her are not ?
Truly heartbreaking, isn’t it ?

Yesterday was one of those days….
I stopped by one of the local shelters to pick up a puppy and a momma cat … or so I thought… they were full of beautiful kittens and more moms all in jeopardy, so I stood there in the middle of the room for I don’t know how long , once you see them you can’t just unsee them and leave , even though I wasn’t to sure what I was doing at that moment , I needed to save them .
Some have eye infections ( treatable ) all loaded with fleas ( took care of it ) , the deworming process started today , they all seem to enjoy the good food and sleep in the air conditioning, all the moms are very sweet and very young , this is just a taste of what’s coming this season .
Is it going to be a lot of work , costly and overwhelming? Yes, but I really think it is worth it 💜

These are some of the faces that were either surrendered or picked up as “strays “ and brought in to shelters . The vast majority sick , it’s been overwhelming to say the least. Twice this month I had to buy vaccines , went through 12 bags of kibble ( 40 lbs each ) , some stay longer than others , p*e pads are used every day , paper towels , disinfectant, gloves , this is not including electric and water bill , and puppy/kitten season is barely starting.

Abandoned at a cemetery…
Animal control was notified about some puppies abandoned at a cemetery in Starr county , 7 little ones about 4 weeks old , left in a box to suffocate with temperatures reaching the 90’s yesterday , this is south Texas , these are the lucky ones , they were found , and the ones we don’t know about ?

I see a defeated boy , giving up with no more hope .

Shelter babies …
Once they felt safe , it was time to decompress a little , after a long nap they ate and of course went back to sleep right away .
Many puppies are still in my care , we are running extremely low on dry food , p*e pads and cleaning supplies are used on a daily basis , pleas for help come on a daily basis , puppy season is about to start and many unwanted litters will be dumped or surrendered to shelters, donations have come to an halt , without your support is impossible to help as I used too.

Mangey puppies are the cutest !

Lots of new little ones came in this week from different shelters .
The fact that my page is still under another name , and the IT people from meta have not been able to resolve this issue , has had a huge impact on posts , shares, traffic and donations . This little rescue is hurting pretty bad .
Is not only to feed and vaccinate, is also to be able to pay the water bill , the electricity, laundry , washing and disinfecting bowls , cleaning and disinfecting the kennels , and the list can go on and on . It doesn’t matter if is a holiday or not , if it rains or snows, there’s no clocking in or out , this is a commitment 24/7 , 365 days a year , vacations or time off doesn’t exist .

Five days ago I was contacted regarding 6 puppies , momma was ran over, since I only had one bottle puppy I agreed and thankfully they are doing good and eating like is no tomorrow!
Yesterday I was contacted about 4 tiny ones , they were found in a ditch/pipe , and animal control was called in to pick up momma ( that apparently was ran over 48 hours earlier ) with the cold front that came in , is just a miracle that they survived ! I wasn’t planning to have more bottle puppies , but it was an emergency for sure !
At this point I’m in need of milk replacement ( only one can left ) , p*e pads, laundry detergent , cleaning products .

Little baby boy …
A survivor and a fighter!
He’s around 10 days old , was barely 1 day old when I got him , the first 2 days were critical as his temperature was difficult to regulate .
He was found along with his sibling on the side of a road , no mom nearby , a Good Samaritan saw them and picked them up, unfortunately the other puppy didn’t survive the night .
Next morning he was brought to me , and two days later the umbilical cord detached.
He eats , sleeps and poops and… repeat .

This litter of 4 came 9 days ago , infested in fleas , completely anemic and dehydrated, two were on the verge of not surviving.
We are not out of the woods completely, since the deworming process will start very soon , but they are very energetic and already eating baby food .

A reminder….

The last couple of weeks have been very challenging…
Two of my kennels broke down , and the plea for help doesn’t stop .
County shelter asked for help with a litter of 7 , but while there, I saw a litter of 5 little ones and a solo puppy , couldn’t leave them behind , knowing what would happen to them , in the process I brought a kitten and a momma cat on the verge to be euthanized, and yesterday four little ones and 2 tiny kittens ( momma cat took as her own) .
Until I get puppies out on transport , I’m closing intake , first time in years , breaks my heart that so many will be euthanized , supplies are running very low , p*e pads , laundry detergent, bleach , food , disinfectant,vaccines .
Any help is very much appreciated.

Im expanding to kittens and moms , due to the amount of felines being euthanized at shelters and kitten season being worse than ever . Space is very limited for now .
Yesterday while being at the shelter , a litter of 3 kittens and a mom with 5 babies were brought in , and also a litter of 6 puppies ! All of them owner surrender.
I posted about the kittens rescued from the county shelter , another one passed away ( I’m not posting the pictures while they were at the animal control facility ,very disturbing) fortunately the momma cat from yesterday took the remaining kitten as her own , a heartwarming scene 💜

Visited the county shelter yesterday …
Puppies and kittens don’t get much of a chance there .
I was able to rescue 14 puppies , 3 neonates ( critical ) and 6 kittens , unfortunately one of the kittens passed away.
Puppies are very wormy , malnourished and dehydrated ( the litter of 7 ) .

While at the County shelter , picking up puppies that were scheduled for euthanasia, I was informed that one of the officers was on his way with 3 neonates… I though I have seen it all !
Momma was killed by what they think it was a coyote .
3 puppies , one badly injured and needless to say being eaten alive by maggots.
We are in dire need of p*e pads and cleaning supplies .

All these puppies were found , dumped in different locations across the valley .
Fleas, parasites, ticks, skin infections, Giardia and coccidia… all these puppies are undergoing some sort of treatment .

Playtime !!

Puppies found in a pipeline…. Puppy season is barely starting , and with local shelters turning away animals , this are the consequences we are facing . Barely 3 weeks old , infested in fleas and anemic. This litter was stabilized, got rid of the fleas ( thousands!) , they had a good meal , and went to sleep right away . Saturday vibes !!

Brought in by animal control … broken puppies , completely shut down, afraid of the human touch , flea infested . Three weeks later… we have healthy playful puppies 💜

And six weeks later …. We have healthy puppies !

They get to play , while kennels are cleaned , and bedding is changed . For them to be playing and running around , it has taken 3 weeks , they are doing good now , their poop is finally firm , and their appetite has tripled , but that wasn’t the case 3 weeks ago , they were dehydrated, anaemic, very wormy and malnourished. It takes sometimes weeks for some puppies to be healthy . We are extremely low on kibble , rice and cleaning supplies . Please visit their Amazon wishlist. How is started and how is going …. I haven’t been much active posting new intakes , because this project has been in the works for a couple of months, keeping me busy. PawStories will be moving soon. There’s still a lot of work ahead , but we are almost there . Play area , spacious rooms , bathing area , a little kitchen , washer and drier will be added as well .
