Meet Ghost 🤍 – A Sweet, Smart White German Shepherd Looking for His Forever Home

Ghost has a gentle heart and a bright mind. He is very smart, a quick learner, and highly attentive to both his owner and his surroundings. Ghost loves being outside, enjoys playtime, and thrives when he’s engaged and included.

Despite his young age, Ghost already has a great foundation of training. He knows Sit, Off, Leave It, Crate, and Inside, is leash trained, and walks well on leash. He is also housebroken, making his transition into a new home that much easier.

Ghost is a social, affectionate dog who does wonderfully with other dogs and kids. He enjoys meeting people and has a friendly, outgoing personality — truly a sweetheart who just wants to belong.

Sadly, Ghost is looking for a new home due to his family’s circumstances. This decision was made with heavy hearts, and his family entrusted his placement to GSGSR, knowing that his future will be protected and he will go to a committed home.

Important placement notes:

Ghost can be placed with a spayed female dog

No cats, as Ghost has never been exposed to them

Ghost is not neutered yet; GSGSR will work with the adopter to fund the neuter, while the adopting family will be responsible for transportation to and from the GSGSR veterinarian

Please remember: we can’t pull animals unless we have placement. That’s why it’s so important to get your foster or adoption applications submitted. We receive constant calls for surrenders and strays, and having applications on file allows us to move quickly and get them into safe placement.

🐾 Meet & Greet Volunteers
We need kind, reliable people to help with meet-and-greet appointments for potential adopters. Your support helps match our dogs with the loving homes they deserve.

🐾 Experienced German Shepherd Handlers
We urgently need individuals experienced with German Shepherds to assist with temperament testing. This helps us determine whether a dog can enter our program and ensures we place them in the most suitable home.

🐾 Fosters (Always Needed!)
Fostering saves lives — sometimes on very short notice. As a foster, you become a dog’s safe place after they leave the only home they’ve known or come from a shelter. Your care provides stability, love, and a fresh start.

We are a foster-based rescue, and every role truly makes a difference.�If you can offer your time, skills, or heart, we would love to have you on our team.

GSGSR is a New Jersey, NJ, German Shepherd Rescue, dedicated to saving shelter dogs and rehoming owner referral dogs. Expo 2026 was a great success! Thank you to all the volunteers who came out to make the so special. The dogs in the picture were adopted from Garden State German Shepherd Rescue, and it was incredible to see them all together with the crowd cheering as the picture was taken_a true sea of shepherds in one place.
Our Star, Forrest, is still looking for his forever home and brought so much joy to everyone he met. He is a super sweet pup who gives kisses to everyone. See you next year!

Forrest was a super hit at the Pet Expo! He loved meeting new humans and making pup friends. While he stole a lot of hearts, he’s still waiting for his forever home. Could that be with you?
