Meet Collins! She is near Duncan Oklahoma, 2 years old, 165lbs, spayed and current on vaccines. Collins is trained in basic commands, and is a velcro Mastiff who likes to be near her people, and is very affectionate. She also likes to spend a lot of time outside with the barn cat, and has to be made to come inside sometimes. Collins is also good with smaller dogs. She prefers a calm environment and would be best in an adult only home.

Collins does have some anxiety issues and is wary of new people and new situations, but does well decompressing with proper introductions.

💜 Meet Nala! This gorgeous apricot girl came to us an owner surrender. Her owner had several kids and while Nala did great with the older kids, she was reported to be snippy with the toddler so they surrendered her to GPMR. Nala was standoff-ish when she first came into rescue but very quickly bonded her foster Dad. He reports that she’s EXTREMELY affectionate with her human, she is the typical velcro Mastiff and truly wants to be next to her human as much as possible. She is definitely a lap dog and wants to sleep with her human in bed.

👉 She is definitely a dog that needs a chance to decompress and a family that is patient and willing to give her time to get comfortable and is a wonderful family member once she does.

🫶 Nala's perfect family would have a yard she could go out and explore and play in and that has no problem with her being on the furniture. Ideally she would have someone who is home at least part of the day versus a family that is away from the home for work every day. She's used to someone being around most of the time.

😍 Thankfully Nala is healthy and tested negative for heartworms. She's getting spayed soon and once she recovers and completes her basic training, she will be ready for adoption. Nala is being fostered in Abilene, TX

💙 Chanel is very sweet and affectionate. Her original family trained her and she knows all of her basic commands and is potty trained. She will sleep soundly all night in her dog bed as long as she's next to your bed and she is not a snorer.

🏊 She loves to play in water and swim especially during this hot Oklahoma summer! Chanel enjoys being outdoors and exploring. She is very agile for her size and can run pretty fast for a Mastiff!

❤️ It’s another beautiful brindle up for adoption! ❤️

Ruby was found by Good Samaritans who helped her put on some much needed weight, she’s about 75lbs now and was 25lbs underweight. Ruby is spayed, vaccinated and estimated to be about 1.5 years old.

She LOVES other dogs and to play, and has been fine around chickens as well. She’s also reported to be good around children.

Secure fencing is a MUST for Ruby, as she wants to be with her people as much as possible. Here’s what her current foster says:

“Ruby DID climb out of a fence!!!!!!
She sailed over a 4 ft fence .....he then put up a 6 ft chainlink fence .....she climbed over that ......
We then put up a mild Hotwire ......she touched that ONE time & has NEVER tried to get out again!!!!!
ALL of this was because she was trying to get to my husband who was walking down a long driveway & Ruby wanted to be with him!!!!!!
So wherever she goes needs to understand that !!!!!!
I'm not sure how she would react to a tall wood fence.”

Save the date for Woofstock 2024 - the largest pet adoption event in Oklahoma!

Join us Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for this super groovy adoption event featuring rescues from all over Oklahoma. Plus, check out a variety of pet-related vendors.

This is an event for the whole family - furry ones included*. Enjoy the Kid Zone, entertainment, prizes, and so much more!

OAA is offering $10 microchipping for owned pets and $5 engraved pet ID tags.

Entertainment, including bands and live demonstrations, will be held throughout the event on the main stage.

Rescue attendees are encouraged to decorate their booth in the most psychedelic fashion for a chance to win a $500 grant prize. Prizes for second and third place, too.

All adopted pets will receive a free microchip, free pet ID tag, and goodie bag courtesy of OAA.

The Kid Zone will have arts and crafts and a balloon maker.
While you’re there, swing by the Pet Food Drive and donate a bag of dry dog or cat food for OAA’s Pet Food Pantry.

Tim was a neighborhood stray when his current owner moved into her house. He is around one year old, 70 lbs, and the vet thinks he is a Mastiff/Lab mix. Tim is now up to date on vaccines, neutered, crate trained, potty trained, and microchiped. He was taken in, in the hopes of Tim being a permanent furry family member, but things are not working out with the other small, elderly dog in the home.

Tim LOVES other dogs and people. He is very mellow and spends 90% of his time laying at his owners feet, and other 10% he is puppy, and wants to play, which the elderly dog cannot handle.

He loves doing zoomies in the yard and getting new toys to chew. He is very bright and does well with training.

Tim has also had formal training with a dog trainer and knows here, place, sit and off. Tim is a sweet, sweet lover who enjoys snuggles and just wants to be part of a family. He does still have some food aggression issues from his days on the streets, so feeding separately will help keep he and housemates safe.

😍Since being in rescue, Phyllis has shown us her big personality! Phyllis is incredibly smart, she's responsive to positive reinforcement and verbal correction. She may not have not learned social skills and manners in her previous life, but she is so eager and quick to learn. She has come a long way in short time and will continue to improve in a home that has consistency and boundaries.

🌼🍑 Meet Daisy Peaches! She is a female Mastiff (or possibly mix?) who was found dumped in a neighborhood. The family who rescued her has a little girl who named Daisy Peaches and we promised we would keep her name. Daisy was very fond of her! When she was found, she had infected bite wounds on her legs, scars all over her face from previous wounds and very underweight.

💛 Daisy is super sweet. She is free roam when home alone and other than chewing on some glasses, she has not chewed anything else. However she will gather shoes, hats, etc and piles them on the bed but nothing has been chewed. She is housebroken, and has not had any accidents. The vet says she is about 18 months old.

Daisy walks well on leash, in the back yard she will venture off some but likes to keep you in her sight, like most Mastiffs she is very Velcro. She has learned the command "sit" and we're working on her recall now.

😩 We suspect Daisy may have been used as a bait dog from all the scars and wounds she has/had.

👉 She is selective about which dogs she likes. She doesn’t react to the older Mastiff in the home, but she has fought with the younger female Mastiff. They have to be kept separated as any sudden movements from that dog seem to agitate Daisy. She's definitely been through some traumatic events in her short life and she may have to be placed as an only dog in the home as a result. The good news is she seems to enjoy kids and so a home with kids 6+ would be fine.

💖 Meet Chanel! This girl found herself needing a home due a lot of life changes with her family that had nothing to do with Chanel.

😊 Like a typical Mastiff, Chanel is velcro and will follow you all over the house. She is very sweet and affectionate when she gets to know you but is a little weary of strangers. Chanel is another one of these dogs in our current "COVID dogs" age group. They were purchased during the pandemic and not socialized outside of the home, and thus have some "stranger danger". So new situations they are encountering coming into our Rescue have been stressful for some of the these dogs. With patience and decompression time, they adjust just fine to their new family but likely will not be social butterfly dogs, they prefer to stay at home. She would do best in an adult only home.

🎀 Miss Mia’s oh so very pretty in her bows! 🎀

Other than stranger danger barking, Mia is well behaved inside the home. She is trusted to roam freely in the house and will only chew on toys. She loves all of her toys and wants to have several to choose from. She likes to always to have a chew toy and loves to play with plush toys as well. Mia is housebroken and has had no accidents. She is learning to walk politely on a leash and requires a harness and lead.

Mia loves to run, chase, and fetch, so she would do well in a home with a large yard. She prefers supervision outside and wants to see that her people are around before she plays or does her business. She is very friendly and affectionate but can also be territorial and protective of her toys with other dogs. It took her a couple of weeks to warm up to her foster brother, but now they get along just fine, without issue. She does want to be the alpha, but that's fine with the passive resident dog. She can be placed with a submissive dog who doesn't mind her bossiness and also won't steal her toys or try to push too much play on her. While she will engage in play with the other dog, everything she does with other dogs she wants on her comfort level. Mia is not recommend for homes with small dogs or cats.

Mia is in great health and ready to be adopted!
