A Poem From Your Cat
-By The Cattery CC
“I don’t need a cat” your lips have said
But when you least expect it, you find me instead
I’m just wishing and waiting for my second chance
I’m just a cat like the rest - at a first glance
Yes, it’s true, you don’t NEED a cat
No one would argue, you’re right about that.
Yet…there’s a lot of things that we’ve both been through
You may not need me, but I really need you.
Something is different about me, you see.
And you’re able to picture the “You & Me”
“I’ll rescue you!” your heart will say
“And we’ll be a family”, you and your stray
Take me home and I’ll be your confidant
Your secrets are safe with me, if you want.
And no matter what you think, say, or do
I’ll always be here and I’ll always love you.
Take me home and I’ll be your guide
I’ll be with you always, I’ll stay by your side
The days will be big, but the years will feel small
And I’ll be here with you through it all.
Take me home and I’ll be your defender
I’ll never give up and never surrender.
You’ll be the highlight of my everyday
And I’ll chase all of your sadness away
Take me home and I’ll be your friend
I’ll help you learn, heal, and mend
You’ll help me see that dreams can come true
You’ll rescue me…but I’ll rescue you too.
It's all just proof that a dog lives here. Teeth marks in the baseboards, crumpled up mats by the front door, nothing without fur on it anymore. It's all just proof that a dog lives here.
Toes getting stomped on as you take off your shoes, bundling up the freezing cold when it's the last thing you want to do, coming home from the party when it feels too soon. It's all just proof that a dog lives here.
Shushing every time the doorbell rings, postponing the purchase of nice new things, the joy that the front door always brings. It's all just proof that a dog lives here.
Being loved for every single thing that you are, constantly needing to vacuum your car, your regular walk becoming too far. It's all just proof that a dog lives here.
The signs of the slowing down never feel good, the patches of their favorite parts on your hardwood, the knowing you'd stop time for them if you could. It's all just proof that a dog lives here.
The parts of the house not aesthetically pleasing, the wait by the door when they know that you're leaving, the fear that without them there wouldn't be meaning. It's all just proof that a dog lives here.
And the day will come when you can refinish the floors and get a new couch and repaint the baseboards, but you won't want to anymore, because it's all just proof that a dog lived here.
And I know it can get overwhelmingly messy, but in the grand scheme it is all such a blessing, because of all the good years your house is getting.
All because a dog lives here.

Charlie's Acupuncture Session
Nine year old Charlie doesn't mind that he was caught snoring away during his latest session with Dr. Sara. We originally started acupuncture to manage his elbow dysplasia, but lately we've also been using it to support healing from surgery to repair his cruciate ligament. On this particular day, Dr. Sara noticed a hot spot (a moist dermatitis) on Charlie's cheek, so she used the "circle the dragon" technique to encourage healing to that area as well. You should be on the mend in no time, Charlie!
Happy Calvin
You may remember 15 year old Calvin - we featured him here on Facebook back in April. His wonderful family sent us this video of him hittin' the trails the day after an acupuncture treatment with Dr. Sara. Look at him go! We're so happy to see him getting along so well. Good boy, Calvin!
