Never take anything for granted! Below, Scout, a former pupil is pictured after being bitten by a western diamondback rattlesnake while pheasant hunting in South Dakota a few days ago. It was 17 degrees that morning according to Scout’s owner. Scout’s prognosis is good and he’s on the mend but never take their safety for granted and always be prepared to care for them while afield!

Dog boxes in steel pit blinds can be dangerous to dogs when entering and exiting, but precautions can be taken to make them safe.

The advantage for young dogs who are learning to hunt is that pit blind dog hides can offer the pup much more visibility. Pups hunting from field pit blinds often learn to watch the sky quickly because they have many opportunities to see birds in the air.
