Foster Pet Outreach is a local non-profit organization, 501(c)(3), whose main focus is to help provide for the well being of animals in our community. We believe that abandoned, injured, or neglected animals deserve the same care and concern, as do our own companion animals. Our members feel that they have the responsibility to address the general needs of this community's animals and to champion
the rights of those worthwhile beings with whom we share our world. Foster Pet Outreach seeks to educate the community in the topics of pet over-population and the necessity of responsible pet ownership. We also bring to local attention the plight of animals who have been denied the basic necessities for a quality life. Foster Pet Outreach wishes that everyone recognize the dignity and worth of all animals
Does your dog need a dog? Say hello to Bobby! Bobby is a 3 year old beagle mix who is the easiest going boy ever! He is crate trained and great with household skills. He gets along with dogs, cats and kids. He would prefer to be in a home with another dog to play with. He is about 40lbs and has completed his heart worm treatment injections. Could Bobby be the perfect sibling for your current dog?
Let us introduce you to our 2 newest additions: Jimmy and Tico!
Jimmy (tan/white) is a 2.5-year-old who weighs just under 10lbs. He was found wandering the county roads and came to FPO to hopefully find his forever home. He gets along with small and large dogs and most likely cats too. Very friendly little guy who just wants to have a forever family.
Tico (black/tan) is a 1.5-year-old who weighs about 9lbs. Sadly Tico's previous owner abandoned him and another dog in an apartment when the owner moved out. As his foster family has gotten to know him, they have noticed he loves everyone (probably kids too). He gets along with other dogs and probably okay with cats.
Will you give either of these little guys a home?
Oh Otis, my Otis! This chatty puppy is searching for a family he can play and snuggle with as he is the first in line for a good cuddle session. He can be a little mischievous but he does love making others happy and being a good boy. He is a schnauzer mix who is believed to get to 30-50lbs. He will make a fine companion for someone who loves active pursuits such as hiking. Could you be his forever hiking buddy?
Oh tiny but mighty Adela! She may be the smallest of the bunch but that doesn't stop her from enjoying life. She is all about exploring, playing and kissing! This snug-bug is a schnauzer mix who is believed to get as big as 30-50lbs. She seems to get along with cats and dogs and is a very smart pupper! If you're interested in having a hiking buddy, Adela might be the one for you!

A friendly reminder that Nail Trim Day is fast approaching at FPO! Sunday from 10-2, Michelle from East Peoria Nail Trims will be at our building at 10206 W Dubois in Edwards for $10 nail trims. Bring your dog, cat, rabbit, ferret, whoever needs a trim. We want to see as many of you there so your pet is all taken care of. See you Sunday!

Welcome Mycah!! Mycah is guessed to be a 4yo Shepard mix. Mycah is dog, cat, and kid friendly. He is 60lbs and stands just below waist high (his foster is 5’7). He is such a gentle giant. He is a wonderful walking buddy, he knows basic commands and is house trained and kennel broken! Stay tuned as we learn more about Mycah, but so far, he is pretty perfect!
Look at those "puppy eyes" and "boop-able snoot"! Felix is a lovable 16 month old who is ready to meet his new family. As you can see, he is a very good lap dog but there is so much more to him. He enjoys everyone he meets (kids included), playing with dogs and chasing cats. If the cat stands its ground, he will just walk away. He loves going on car rides and walks as well. He knows a few commands (like sit, shake, down, etc.) but is still trying to figure out what "stay" means. He is also just about housebroken. Interested in making Felix apart of your home?
Meet Bianca or Beez for short. Bianca is a long haired chihuahua mix weighing in at 8lbs. We are guessing her to be around 1 1/2 years old . We are learning about her and she is learning a new life. She is crate trained, dog cat and kid friendly. She is young and VERY active. She loves toys and chews. She is learning about collars, leashes, walking and outside. She is not house broken but we are working on it. She seems like she is going to want to be in charge of her pack. Stay tuned as she continues to learn this new way of life.
Sweet, little Nikki is now 4 months old and waiting for her forever family. If you're looking for a snuggle buddy, Nikki will be happy to jump in your lap for some pets and attention. She is not afraid to use her vocals to ask for some love or food. She enjoys playing with other kittens and would love a home with a fur sibling to tumble around with. Meet Bebe! She’s a 3 year old, 50lb herding dog mix. She's been in our program for the past week and we've discovered she's such a love bug! Her hobbies include long walks, car rides, and of course snuggles. She has a fascination with bugs and random holes while going on walks. She's done very well in her new home and overnight in the kennel. She absolutely loves following her foster family around all day. So far it seems she’s way too excited to meet new people as she wants to jump with excitement but she is learning manners. She really is a perfect dog and she’s already stole her foster family's hearts. If you're looking for the sweetest loving dog, THIS is your girl!
Bellwether is a 4 month old gray tabby who is looking for her fur-ever home. She loves playing with her foster siblings and her toys. She's currently working on her power pounces with the teaser toy. She is a little bit on the shy side but her foster siblings bring out her playful side. Are you ready to be Bellwether's fur-ever play mate?

Happy Caturday! We wanted to share Nikki & Bellwether's story in more detail. They came into our program at 9 weeks old. Their mom was a stray that found her way to one of our foster homes who reached out to FPO to see if we could help this family. The kittens were what we considered feral when they first came in. They would hide, hiss, run anything to avoid humans. But with a lot of work the foster homes have worked daily with them to make them into the fabulous kitties they are today. 2 of their siblings have already been adopted. They are now 4 months old and hoping their family is out there too. Don’t let these babies grow up in foster care!

Check out some before and after shots of Felix from when he first came into our program and then after his spa day! Felix is about 16 months old & just under 15 lbs. Felix is he loves to ride in the car, loves kids, dogs, anyone he meets. If a cat runs he loves to chase, but if the cat stands its ground he will just walk away. He is a little mouthy but very gentle with it.
Felix sleeps all night in his crate. He has learned to walk on a leash, how to sit, shake & down. Stay is not in our vocabulary - he’s work in progress!! Felix is a very good lap sitter & likes to watch TV. He is almost housebroken- he sometimes just gets so excited, he pees a little. (We can understand-happens to the best of us!). All in all, a very sweet & adorable boy.
Miss Pandora here has been in foster care now for 4 months with no interest and we are just not understanding why she keeps getting over looked. She has such pretty colors of calico and tabby look all in one. Pandora is 2 years old and just wants to be around her family and their personal space! She wants nothing more than to sit in your lap purring away or asking for belly rubs. She would be a great addition to any household.
We hope you haven't forgotten about Bobby our beagle mix who has finally completed his heartworm treatment and is now ready to find his forever. 🎉 Bobby weighs in at 39lbs and guessed to be about 3 years old. Bobby is crate trained and doing great with his household skills. Bobby is the sweetest, easiest going boy ever. He just wants to be your friend and to please you. He is good with cats and kids. Bobby is more comfortable in an environment with another dog so he will need a home that has a dog. Could this be you?
Today is NATIONAL CHECK THE CHIP DAY! Microchips greatly increase the chances that pets will be reunited with their families if they are lost or stolen, but a microchip only works if its registration information is accurate. Use this day to make sure to connect with your vet to verify if your pet is microchipped. If they are not get that taken care of!
Recently moved, changed your phone number or other contact information? Make sure to update your information with the microchip companies or if you adopted through a rescue reach out to them too!

Does your dog need some socialization or training tips? Come join us tomorrow from 7p-8p at our office in Edwards for our weekly Parlor Skills. One of our board members has a passion for training and is there to help answer questions you may have. We have had pups that just needed to socialize around other dogs. They just sat on their beds and barked but with each week you could see their improvements to where they were not barking at everyone else. Some have learned place, leash manners, as well as basic commands. It’s free so stop by and check it out!

Bellwether is a 4 month old grey tabby that can be a double agent! She comes off as a shy/spicy little girl but really she can be the sweetest once she knows she’s safe. When she first came into our program she did not want to come out with humans close by but now she will come out for food and pets and to see what everyone else is doing in the room. She is growing more confident with us handling her and holding her every day. This little pea pod is on her way to being the best companion for a loving family.
Nikki is now 4 months old and waiting for her forever family. Ever since her brother has been adopted she is longing for a playmate and attention. Nikki is very sweet and will jump in your lap for some pets and attention, but she absolutely loves play time. She has some vocals on her and will let you know when its meal time or if she wants your attention too. Let’s help this baby find the perfect forever home!

Tonic has been in our program now for 2 months. She is now 4 months old and hoping her forever family is out there! Tonic is all about playing hard and providing entertainment for her family. She loves zooming all around the room and doing sneak-attack pounces on her favorite toys. She would love fur siblings and family members that will keep up with her play energy. After she finishes getting all her feisty energy out, she needs a good cuddle session to know she played well. Don’t miss out on the cute kitten stage with this little lady!

Meet Fiona. Fiona is a 5 yo beagle doxie mix. She has the most velvety bunny soft ears and loves being petted. You can almost feel your blood pressure settle while stroking the silky soft fur on her head. She has a sweet personality that just soaks up affection like a sponge. Fiona is a happy girl, her tail only stops wagging when she’s asleep. Speaking of sleep, her greatest wish is to snuggle in bed with you. Fiona is an active girl. She’s working on her leash walking and socialization manners. She can be barky when encountering another dog on a walk so she will need an owner willing to do some training with her. Fortunately she’s very food motivated as well as possessing a strong desire to make her people happy so we feel she would be an A+ obedience student. Fiona is housebroken and keeps a clean kennel. She cries a bit in her kennel -after all, she’s prefer to be at your side-but will settle after a few minutes. She currently sleeps in the bedroom on a dog bed in her foster home. Currently Fiona enjoys running through the yard with the other dogs in her foster home. She gets along well with other dogs after settling from introducing. She also enjoy squeaky toys. She is in foster with two cats who she would love to make friends with-much to her disappointment, they aren’t interested. Poor Fi! But she keeps trying!! If your bed needs a cuddle bug and you are looking for a loving pup who will play, walk with you then snuggle on the couch at the end of the day, Fiona is ready for you!!
