Our mission statement for Canine Country Club is to provide stress free, quality and exceptional service for all cherished pets while under our care. Our business has been operating for ten years in the Michiana area and we are proud of the trust and relationships that we have built with our clients and their wonderful pets!
Christine has practiced stress free grooming and boarding practices throughout the course of her 10 years in business. What does that mean? She has worked diligently to understand dogs and their fears/anxieties while being groomed and boarded and what triggers any stressed behaviors. Her methods are centered around putting a dog’s mind at ease during times of stress and replacing the fear with a sense of love and well being. She understands that dogs respond with a fight or flight instinct and believes in her heart that dogs only want to please us. It is our job as their humans to communicate with them in a gentle and reassuring way that they understand so that they can break through their fears and stress and learn to love the grooming process.
CCC instills in each employee that that all dogs are good. The word “naughty” is not allowed here! Dogs are praised for their breakthroughs and encouraged to learn and accept every part of each service through love and gentle guidance. If a dog trusts, they will willingly accept what you are doing without resistance and will become a helping partner. Christine and her staff have witnessed miracle transformations with pets under their care using this method. Christine has helped each groomer working at the CCC to learn to groom dogs restraint free, devoid of any pain, discomfort or force. Her theory is Love Cures All. As a result, the quality of the grooms improves and the pet leaves a more confident and well adjusted friend. There is simply no other way to handle our furry friends and once the groomer masters improved handling techniques it is impossible for them to revert back to old ways.
When you enter the CCC, you won’t hear dogs barking or crying from stress or anxiety. The grooming shop is a cage free space and they are free to find the spot they feel their best and get comfortable. There are also two 4 x 8 holding areas with Peek a Pet windows for those dogs that just aren’t comfortable being around other dogs. Each grooming station has a doggy door leading to an outside potty area that they are free to use at any time during their time in the salon. The shop Mom oversees the flow of the shop to keep stress levels down and to look after our furry friends and meet any needs they may have before or after their grooming time. Pet friendly, calming essential oils are utilized by diffusing or through massage to help ease anxiety and fear. We have a relaxed approach to each appointment, no groomer is every in a hurry and they always have a helping hand to reassure a dog or provide extra love and support through the process. We complete our grooms in a timely, competitive fashion because the dogs help us, not through force.
