Domingo 🍰💐👰‍♀️

We did not meet this Domingo on a bachelorette vacation, and we can confirm that our Domingo is in fact NOT a doctor but could pass as a model!

All jokes aside, Domingo is the real deal! He's such a sweet, good boy. Domingo enjoys other dogs and spending time with our volunteers.

Kuzco (aka Puddles because the boy loves water) had a special photoshoot this week, because when you've been in the shelter system for a while, you deserve a little extra spoiling!

Kuzco is as rotten and sweet as he looks. Truly. This boy is so dang cute AND funny. He's the life of the Highland kennel right now. Kuzco will leave you in stitches from laughing so hard. He's funny but he also really wants to be a good boy.

Kuzco gets along well with most dogs and cats. He has even enjoyed our supermutt squad volunteers!

Not to be confused with the rotten pygmy hippo who went viral, our land hippo is very sweet!

Our 'bouncy pig' does have a similar goofy personality and adorable appearance.

Moodeng does well with other dogs and we would imagine he'll do really well with kids, too.

Styx 🐾💗

There's nothing more humbling than strutting around the cat room with your head held high, acting like your little paws have high heels on them and sass-ing to any cat that looks your way, but when you try to make a smooth, hot girl exit out into the catio, you miss the window because you forgot your legs are much shorter and your belly is much rounder than you remember. Right, Styx? 🤭

This girl is ALL personality. She's so social with her humans and so sweet. She likes to put her four-legged friends in their place, because she's a diva, duh!

Swoon! 😍💞

This litter of 2 males and 2 females (speckled puppies) are ready to find their humans!

Puppies have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and pre-loved in foster. Their adoption fee is only $175. They will do well in a home with other animals and kids.

Puppies are currently 4 months and almost 35 lbs. We would expect them to be over 60 lbs. full grown.

Parades and strangers aren't fun for everyone, especially some dogs, which is why we hosted a trick or treat event at our Highland shelter on Sunday to provide fosters and Unicorn adopters a fun, safe space to work on their socialization and enjoy some Halloween havoc together.🐾

We were SO excited to see alum like Athena, Tree Trunks, Bambi, Purdie, and Skyla — and so many others — we lost our heads over it! Huge thanks to everyone who came out, dressed up, and celebrated with us. And an extra special thanks to those who have given our shelter pets a home.💙💚🧡

You know what's crazy? It used to be that once a litter of puppies became available for adoption they were in our building for less than 48 hours!! Sadly, this litter shown has been waiting for 2 weeks now!!! Can you help them?

This litter is 2 months old and consists of 3 females and 1 male. They are solid, healthy supermutts! All puppies have been exposed to children and other animals. They will make amazing family pets.

If snuggly, snorty, squatty & squishy is your type, Beetle checks all the boxes and he's ready to meet you! 🐷💕

When we first met Beetle at Madison County Animal Care and Control, he was facing euthanasia. He entered our care in late September and we placed him into our Unicorn Program, which is designed to support dogs who struggle in a shelter environment.

He loved our staff and volunteers, but it was when he was placed in a foster home that we confirmed what we already knew: Beetle isn’t "just a dog." Heck, he's not even a unicorn — he's a lover through and through, and he's someone's future everything. 🥹

2 years old and a dense 60 lbs, Beetle is crate trained, walks well on a leash and loves every dog and person he's met. He's just amazing, and he's going to make his future family so incredibly happy while keeping them constantly laughing with his little piglet grunts and personality that oozes nothing but pure, unfiltered joy.
