Rei is finally ready to move onto furever 🏠

Rei came in with a severe skin infection and after two months she is finally feeling better! Her hair is starting to grow back and she has started to play! We have learned she absolutely LOVES catnip. She is always excited to see new people and loves to climb up on your shoulder for snuggles!

Rosie is looking for her furever home 💖

Rosie is a 7 year old Lhasa Apso who has found herself at the shelter due to no fault of her own. She is very sweet but is a little on the timid side at first. She likes dogs around her size, and we are still unsure at this time about cats. She would need a home with no small children.

Rosie's adoption fee is $130. She will come current on her age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm tested and spayed.

Rayne Drop and Mia are still here 🥺

They are the last of their litter and would love to stay together. These girls are the sweetest girls and purr the moment they get picked up. They are also extremely entertaining and can be found wrestling most of the time.

Rayne and Mia get along with other cats and are the purrfect age to socialize with dogs. They would absolutely love to have some human siblings to snuggle with too!

Where are our Chocolate Lab lovers at?! 🍫🍩🤎

Pearcy is our newest resident here at the shelter. He came in as a stray and was never claimed, so now he is up for adoption!

We are guessing him to be around a year old, and he has all the chocolate lab personality.

He doesn't seem to mind other dogs, but a meet and greet is required. He also doesn't seem to mind cats but might need some training when he gets into a home. We think he would do best in a home with older children due to his size and playful nature.

Meet Watson 🤎

This adorably large 4 month old puppy came to ECAC as a stray with a terrible skin/hair loss issue. After being treated, he is looking 100% better. However, we can not decide what breed he might be 🤔

He is a sweet boy that loves all your attention and will do just about anything for some chicken. He gets along well with other dogs and so far doesn't mind the cats here at the shelter. He does still need some work on basic manners as he is still a pup.

Meet Paityn 🩷

This poor girl has been through so much in the past month. After she got loose from her new family in the Walmart parking lot she was left to fend for herself for over a month. Her new family decided they did not want to deal with trying to catch her so we stepped in and finally caught her in a trap last week.

Paityn is so scared here at the loud shelter and would love to find a home. We are unsure of how she does with other dogs so a meet and greet is required with potential dog siblings. We believe she would do best with older children due to her timid nature. She does seem interested in cats but has done fine with them so far.

Paityn needs a home with an experienced and patient owner that can give her the time she needs to adjust. If interested in adopting this sweet girl please fill out our adoption application. Paityn will come up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and heartworm tested.

This year we have stayed consistently full on dogs and cats, so supplies are always a must. We appreciate any and all donations but here are just some of the things we are currently low on.

🐶Dry Dog Food (Purina One, Dog Chow or Pedigree is what we prefer with our sensitive tummy dogs, but we appreciate any kind)

We thought we would highlight some of our spooky kitties 🐈‍⬛

Meet Phannie and Salem.

Phannie is a 10 week old female looking for a furever home! She does great with other kitties and would do okay with dogs.

Salem is looking for a foster home as he has a dislocated hip and possible pelvic fracture. The estimated cost of surgery is anywhere from $800-$1300 including after care. If interested in fostering please fill out our adoption application and indicate you would like to foster.

Icee is so sad that he has not yet found his furever home. This sweet, amazing boy has been here 1️⃣2️⃣5️⃣ days.

Icee is such a good dog and will be the perfect addition to your home. He loves to play, especially with stuffies🧸 He also enjoys the walks he gets with our volunteer dog walker.

Icee loves attention but is a big, full of muscle boy and does have a tendency to jump out of excitement. He is around 5 years old but is the perfect age if you are wanting a well behaved boy.

Royale & Ridley are still waiting for their furever homes 🏠

This bonded pair are the ultimate lovebirds 🐦 Wherever Royale goes, Rildey is there in her shadow... it is absolutely adorable. While it feels like such a task to adopt a bonded pair, it is sooo rewarding.

❤️Adopting a bonded pair means they are already built in best friends.

Despite our best efforts, adoptions are at an all-time low. Intakes, however, have not slowed down, and more and more strays are being brought in almost daily. We need help!

Amiah is a sweet sassy girl that is eager to please! She is potty trained and knows several commands. Although if she doesn’t get her treat quick enough she will let you know! Watson is looking for his furever home 💙

Watson came to the shelter as a stray with a horrible skin condition. A tape prep showed 5-6 ++ cocci bacteria. He is currently on medication to help his skin, but it will take some time before his beautiful fur all grows back in.

He is only 4-5 months old and is around 45lbs. He does have a natural bobbed tail according to the vet. We are guessing a Rottweiler mix possibly? Hit us with your best guess ⬇️

He is the sweetest boy who loves affection. He doesn't seem to mind the other dogs, and we are unsure about cats at this time.

Meet Shakira 💃

This sweet, loveable, full of energy girl is looking for her furever home. She came to the shelter as a stray and, unfortunately, was never claimed. We got a little backstory on her, and seems like all she has known was to jump from home to home 💔

Shakira is such a sweet girl that loves all the belly rubs and attention. She would thrive in a very active home where she can get daily walks or adventures. She is about 1-2 years old and a medium sized mixed breed weighing about 50lbs.

Shakira is an escape artist, so she would need a secured fenced-in backyard or daily mental/physical stimulation.

She does need to be the only pet in the home.

We currently have zero kennels, and dogs keep coming in. We also have dogs in foster and one boarding at the vet.

This month is Clear the Shelter Month but unfortunately this month we have been consistently full. Our dog adoption fees are currently reduced to $100 for Clear the Shelter, which includes their spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate vaccinations, and heartworm testing. Please consider sharing as we have many amazing dogs looking for their homes.

We are a no-kill animal control facility servicing Effingham County in Illinois. We pride ourselves on trying to find the perfect match for each of our animals. If your adoption application is approved, we will call you to set up a meet and greet time. Please allow up to one week to process your application.

FOSTERING: we are always in need of fosters for our animals. What does fostering mean? Fostering is when you take home one or more of our animals to live with you for a short time while we work on finding their furever home. If interested in fostering, please fill out the above adoption application, but mark “FOSTER” on the first line.
