Let’s Celebrate!!!! Today Dr Haarmann worked cattle in the barn at East Side for the first time in a year. As most of our large animal farmers know, Dr Haarmann has cut his schedule (he no longer is seeing small animals) and is working only on Mondays and Wednesdays. Give us a call at 217-342-4713 and we can get you on his schedule. 🐷🐮🐃🐂🐄🫏🐎🐖🐏🐑🦙🐐

We are diagnosing heartworms in dogs at a rapidly increasing rate. We are averaging around 1-2 positive dogs a week. This is just our East Side Clinic. Most come in with no symptoms but there are those with coughing, weight loss, fatigue, decreased appetite, fainting spells and swollen belly. The earlier we diagnose a dog, the better chances of them recovering. For more information or to make an appointment to have your dog tested, please call the clinic at 217-342-4713.

Did anyone notice what the high temperature was today? 98 degrees on my car when I got in at my lunch time at 11:30am. That’s really warm out there for humans but please don’t forget your animals!!! They have to have plenty of cold water and shade. Another thing to remember….. when the sun is beating down on the sidewalks and roadways a pets paws can get 3rd degree burns just like our feet can. Please look after the animals just like you would yourself and your children….

Does anyone know how hard it is to get 7 heeler puppies to all look at the camera at the same time? lol. I took about 30 photos and these were the best of them. These babies were in for their 6 wk puppy shots and health exams today. All passed with flying colors and now ready to find new homes. Of course they got lots of love and kisses from everyone today!!!

The last phase is coming along very quickly. It’s a phase that none of you will probably ever see. It’s canine surgery kennels, an employee restroom, laundry room and a break room. Right now Carlos is having to run over to our “sister clinic” Effingham Vet Clinic on Keller Dr to do our laundry. Enjoy the pictures!!

Zeus first came to us a 6 wk old puppy back in November 2020. He was an “only child” and was so big it looked like he ate his litter mates….. 😂 At his 9wk check up he weighed 35lbs. Today he’s still a big boy weighing in at 117lbs. We’ve really enjoyed watching Zeus become the big lap dog he is today!

It’s been a while since we posted any pictures of the remodel. As most of you know we are operating out of the new front door which is now located on the WEST side of our building. You can come in on 1st street and park by the NEW entrance. We have the heating and air guys, drywall guys, painters, cabinet makers, electricians, plumbers and more all working to get this done as soon as possible. We are sorry but we will still not boarding due to having to use the kennels for our surgery patients. Enjoy the pics!!

Heartworm Prevention is VERY IMPORTANT ALL YEAR LONG!! Every year when you bring your dog in for vaccinations, a simple blood draw could save your dogs life. Heartworms come from your dog being bitten by an infected mosquito. That mosquito can carry the disease to many different dogs so it’s important to get them tested and use prevention. If you are like most people your life is busy and you may be late giving the prevention chew each month or just forget it all together. Just being a couple days late can leave your dog exposed to heartworms. We have an injectable product that can be given every 6 or 12 months. PROHEART 6 and PROHEART 12. It will prevent heartworms in your dog and you don’t have to remember to give a monthly chewable! Ask a vet for more information!
