Meet the Kuhlii Loach! 🪱🐟

If you’ve ever wanted a fish that looks like a tiny underwater noodle, the Kuhlii Loach is the fish for you! 😂

🌿 Fun Fact: Kuhlii Loaches are nocturnal, so they’re often most active after the lights go out. During the day, you may find them hiding under decorations, burrowing into the substrate, or disappearing into plants—just like this little aquatic hide-and-seek champion!

🔎 A few Kuhlii Loach facts:
• 🪱 Their long, eel-like body makes them look more like noodles than fish!
• 🌙 They’re primarily active at night.
• 🏖️ They love soft sand or smooth substrate so they can safely burrow.
• 👯 They’re social and do best in groups.
• 🍽️ They’re bottom-dwellers and enjoy sinking foods.
• 🌿 Plenty of hiding places help them feel secure.

And don’t worry if you don’t see them every second—they’re probably just off somewhere doing important loach business. 😂

Our parakeets are always ready to brighten your day with their playful personalities and cheerful chirps! 🐦✨

💡 Did you know? You can often tell if a parakeet is male or female by looking at the cere (the fleshy area just above the beak).

💙 Males usually have a bright blue cere once they mature.
🤍🤎 Females typically have a white, tan, or brown cere, especially during breeding season.

Keep in mind that young birds and certain color mutations can make it a little trickier to tell, but it's a great place to start!

This week's featured fish is the Lake Turkana Jewel Cichlid (Hemichromis exsul)—a stunning and uncommon African cichlid that's sure to catch your eye! ✨

🔴 Fun Facts: • Native to Lake Turkana in Kenya and Ethiopia, one of the world's largest desert lakes. • Unlike many jewel cichlids, H. exsul has a more peaceful temperament, making it a better choice for carefully planned cichlid communities. • Adults reach about 3-4 inches in length. • During breeding, their red coloration becomes even more intense, creating a truly spectacular display!

🏡 Care Tip: These cichlids appreciate warm, clean water, plenty of rocks and caves for hiding, and a protein-rich diet of quality pellets, frozen foods, and occasional live treats. They're hardy fish, but like all cichlids, they do best with compatible tank mates and enough space to establish territories.
