Charlie our beautiful five year old orange and white tabby is not loving life at the shelter.

He is a quiet soul, and the activity and hubbub of our main cat room has made him nervous and afraid to the point that he is paralyzed to move from one spot most days.

He loves people though, and comes out for pets and snuggles, and would be the best lap cat.

If you have a quiet dog-free home and are looking for a lovable snuggle bug of a cat , Charlie, is your guy.

We would love for you to meet him fall in love and bring him home. Charlie is neutered up-to-date on shots has been examined and tested by our vets and is micro chipped.

Sid is a happy, healthy and very energetic adult male dog! He is very friendly and loves to play, go on walks, and cuddle up with his favorite humans. Sid is very smart, energetic and has a lot of love to give. He would make a great addition to a family and is very sweet. He does get along with select dogs a proper introduction would be best. If you’re looking for a walking trail partner look no further.

Gwen, 4 years old. Boxer mix, weighs 40 pounds,loves fetch, running and all other high enegry activities. While unknown how she is with other dogs or cats, is is very sweet and would make the perfect companion.

Boscoe is a happy, healthy and lovey male dog! This big lug is a gentle giant and full of love. He loves to play, go on walks, and cuddle up with his favorite humans. Meet Bolt, the one eyed wonder!
Bolt is a happy, healthy and very energetic male dog! Through no fault of his own, he is 90-100% blind in his left eye. This is due to his previous owner’s neglect. After being newly blind Bolt struggled and was returned to his previous shelter. Given his disposition at the time he was put on the euthanize list. Pet Welfare worked with the Mylo Foundation to save Bolt. Despite what he has been through he is still a puppy at heart, very friendly, and loves to play. Bolt does well with other dogs(aside from some food aggression towards other dogs), and he has not been introduced to cats. We do know that he is very people and treat-oriented and would love to meet you! If you are interested in adopting Bolt, please contact us. He can't wait to meet you!

FOSTER TO ADOPT OPPORTUNITY

Maury, our one-eyed wonder kitten is in need of a person or family to take him under their wing.

Being born a stray was a strike against him. Having one eye removed due to infection was another.

Now we have learned that in order to keep the eye he does have in good shape, he will need eyedrops applied diligently for the foreseeable future.

Shelters can be rough for the toughest cats, but for a little fella who has already had a few challenges, it’s even harder.

If you or someone you know would be interested in helping this sweetie out, please let us know.

Maury is neutered, up to date on all his tests and shots. All supplies and vet visits would be covered by Pet Welfare during the period of fostering.

Zain
September 2013-July 2024

We are heartbroken to report that long time Pet Welfare resident Zain has crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈

Zain arrived at Pet Welfare in 2013 with his siblings, Foxy and Zeb when they were about six months old. Zain lived with us his whole life, and was loved by countless volunteers through the years.

He was always the first cat to greet the oncoming volunteer shift, usually perched on the highest shelf in the cat room meowing for pets. And he loved his wet food. 😻

Even though he never found a forever home, everyone at Pet Welfare did their best to give him a good life. We hope that he knew he was loved.

He developed a condition that caused a severe buildup of fluid in his lungs making it difficult for him to breathe. After consulting with the amazing veterinary team at Bayside Hospital for Animals the difficult decision was made to let Zain go.

A group of Pet Welfare volunteers were with Zain at the end making sure he was not alone at the end of his journey.

We are so thankful to Bayside as well as Zain’s foster, Susan who has diligently watched over and cared for him up to the end.

Rest easy sweet Zain. We hope you’ve found a sunny spot and some crunchy treats.

Carmine is a gentle soul who arrived at Pet Welfare, when his owner had to move away, and could not take him.

He is a sweet and quiet boy, who loves to find a quiet corner to nap in. Carmine loves crunchy treats and head scratches. He doesn’t mind living with the other cats in the room although he is shy, so a proper introduction to your family would be necessary.

Once he knows you and trusts you, he’ll seek you out for love and attention.

Carmine has been neutered, vaccinated tested and examined by our vet.

Come and meet him at Pet Welfare anytime Monday through Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM!

Handsome Bernard has come a long way during his time at Pet Welfare. He arrived here in March of 2023 when his family split up and had to move away.

At first he got overstimulated with the other cats in the cat room but he has slowly gotten used to them and our volunteers.

Bernard’s ideal home would be a quiet one with no small children. He would probably do ok with older cat-savvy young people. He is not a fan of young hands grabbing at him. Gentle pets are ok! In fact he will seek you out for love and snuggles!

Bernard is neutered, tested, and up to date on his vaccinations!

Come say hi at Pet Welfare! We are open Monday through Saturday from 9am to 1pm!

We just want to remind everyone that November is Adopt a Senior Pet month and that none of our older pets have had applications. Keep in mind all our adoptable pets are up to date on meds and are spayed/neutered. Please see each photo for a little background on each of them.

Mama was adopted last week from Pet Welfare and has already stolen the hearts of her new family. She’s slowly getting to know her new kitty sisters and jumps in any human lap that happens to be available. We are so happy for Mama!!

Please help spread the word! Our Rocky is in a 30 day boarding and training program with ReviveK9. He's already settling in well and showing what a smart cookie he is. He will be ready to transition to a long term foster or permanent home on or around October 6th. Revive K9 offers support after training to ensure the smoothest transition possible. Pet Welfare provides all necessary expenses for fosters as well as support after adoption for forever families! We're so excited to see Rocky make great strides with his trainer. Suncoast Coffee is amazing! They’ve been providing ice, water and even some pup cups! Just check out Bailey and Cinnamon enjoying this cold treat on a hot day!

Mabel Fox has recently started grooming Mimi and big Mimi doesn’t mind at all. Mabel is a little camera shy though, which makes capturing these sweet moments a little difficult.

Get you somebody that looks at you the way Wally looks at whoever is walking him…or you could just get Wally. He’s ready to meet his furever family and show them how much fun walks can be.

Kimchi is wondering if you have any wet food. Our cameraman reportedly had some so she resorted to begging. What happened to the cat pride? Speaking of wet food, donations of food (for dogs and cats) are always welcome.

Bobby B is a big two year old kitty with an even bigger heart (not literally, he’s perfectly healthy). He loves to just lay down and relax, just don’t interrupt his self care routine. People that do usually get a grumpy meow in response but nothing more. If you want to meet him and possibly disturb his slumber, check in the center of the cat room or on the back of the catio. Bobby is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. He gets along with other cats and dogs following a proper introduction but would probably be happier as an only cat. Pet Welfare is open Monday-Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM, not including Federal holidays.
