✨Vaccine Information✨

An annual exam is needed before any vaccines can be given. If your pet is sick, it's best to wait until they feel better to get their vaccines done. 😕

Vaccines come with a few side effects. Pets can be somewhat more sleepy than normal; some soreness and swelling at the vaccine site is normal. Anything more than that is a vaccine reaction and your pet should be taken to an urgent care or ER hospital. Examples: Vomiting, hives, facial swelling, difficulty breathing, etc.. Please alert us of any severe reactions so we can properly care for your pet for their next vaccine. 👍

REMINDER: It's important to wait until your puppy is fully vaccinated before taking them to public areas, even out on walks. Puppies that aren't fully vaccinated aren't fully protected. When bringing your puppy in to their appointment we ask you carry them, we are a hospital and get quite a few sick pets coming in and out. 🏥

For any further questions or concerns give us a call at (619) 444-4246 or to schedule an appointment. 📞

Fleas and ticks are not only gross, they can pose significant health risks. Tapeworm infections and bartonellosis (cat scratch disease) are caused by fleas, while ticks transmit Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, cytauxzoonosis and other infections. The best defense is year-round protection you can trust. Talk to your veterinarian today about flea and tick prevention for your pet.

Did you know millions of pets are lost each year in the United States?

We want to remind everyone that microchipping is a quick, painless procedure that greatly increases your chances of finding your pet should they ever become lost.

Microchipping your pet isn't a tracking device. Microchips are able to be scanned at most Vet Clinics and Shelters, once scanned your information comes up and they'll be able to contact you about your pet. That's why it's important to keep your microchip information up to date. If re-homing a pet, make sure you advise the new owner of the microchip and how to change the information so you aren't contacted about a previous pet.

Schedule a microchipping appointment by giving us a call at (619) 444-4246. 📞

End-of-life care, when is it time?

We understand it's very difficult to think about your pet crossing the rainbow bridge. 🌈 Although we wish our pets could live forever, there comes a time where we have to consider what's best for them. 💕

"But how would I know when it's time?" It's definitely one of the hardest decisions you may have to make one day in your pets' life, one that sometimes we just can't make ourselves. "Quality of Life" exams are offered here at VCA, we are here to help. Give us a call to schedule an appointment, or to get more information. 💗

We also provide euthanasia services, appointments may be available but we understand it's hard to plan. Call us as early in the day as possible and keep in mind that we may not have the availability the same day but we do try our best. If we've never seen your pet here before or if it's been over a year, we require an exam first with or without previous records. We also provide aftercare options. Give us a call for further information at (619) 444-4246. 📞
