We are excited to welcome Dr. Alexis Diffley to Care and Comfort!

Dr. Alexis Diffley, a native of San Diego, California, received her undergraduate degree in Biology/Zoology from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Following graduation, Dr. Diffley lived and worked in Las Vegas, Nevada for four years and recently decided to move back to her hometown of San Diego. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, exotic medicine, shelter medicine, and preventative care.

The heat is on! Especially for our furry friends!

Here are some tips to keep your pets cool this summer:

- Only go for walks early in the morning or in the evening (Remember if it’s 90° outside the asphalt can be up to 140°!)
- Bring them inside or provide plenty of shade
- Make sure they have access to plenty of fresh water
- Never leave your pet in the car unattended
- Limit exercise
- Watch for signs of heatstroke (Heavy panting, rapid heartbeat, difficulty breathing, fever, excessive thirst, lethargy, vomiting, excessive salivation, and even seizures)

**Take extreme caution with our smushed faced friends!
Bulldogs, Pugs, and Frenchies are at higher risk for heatstroke in this weather.

Stay safe and cool out there!
