Draco came into our care in late September of this year as a stray from Brawley Animal Control. Draco very quickly became a staff favorite as he has proven to be an EXCELLENT dog! Not only is he super handsome, but Draco literally gets along with every person and animal he meets. Draco loves adults, children, kittens, cats, puppies, and adult dogs. We don’t think he has ever met someone he didn’t like! Draco also loves being indoors and we have come to learn that his most favorite thing is his bed. Draco has gotten out of our play yard area several times just to go sit at the office door. He patiently waits for a staff member to let him in so he can head straight to his bed to lay down and nap. Draco is one very special dog, and our entire team hopes that he will soon find his furever home!

They work so hard to partner with shelters all across the U.S. to make adoption easy and affordable for everyone! Earlier this week a local animal control agency reached out to us about several kitties that were abandoned in a trailer in Niland. We’re extremely tight on space right now, but we happily said we would help them! We initially thought there was only 10 kitties, but we ended up leaving animal control with 12 kitties today. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Despite everything they’ve gone through, they are all very friendly and purred as our staff handled them. Everyone had intake done on them and over the next week our staff will get some better pictures of them all. For now they all have their own kennels with beds, blankets, toys, and some good food! The kittens have already started playing with their toys! 🥰 Some are being started on medication for URI and everyone will be taken to our vet to be checked out and further evaluated. Paws crossed everyone will be cleared for adoption within the next few weeks! 🐾🤞🏼

Today we are at the 19th Annual Honey Festival in Westmorland for our weekly adoption event! 🐾🐝🍯 We have a handful of super sweet and adorable shelter pups with us. They all have their paws crossed that today is their lucky day! 🐾🤞🏼

For National Philanthropy Day, we were recognized as an Organization of Impact and presented with a Special Nonprofit Achievment Award!

Despite all our flaws and imperfections, our pets love us unconditionally, and that unconditional love is something our team has always wanted other people to experience. We have been given a platform that we utilize to teach people that our pets are so much more than just animals. They are gifts to us and they are to be loved, cherished, and respected. - They’re family.

Part of our mission is to strengthen the bond between people and their pets. Through our programs, hard work and dedication of our staff, board, volunteers, and from the love and support of our donors and advocates, we are able to achieve our goals and fulfill our mission.

We want to thank our entire crew, we want to thank our community, and we want to thank the Imperial Valley Community Foundation for this acknowledgment! 🐾💜

Reba came into our care back in early March of this year from Brawley Animal Control. She was found tied to a fence, abandoned… Our staff has come to learn that Reba knows basic commands and we believe that she is also housebroken. She is great on a leash, and she sure does love her treats! Although Reba does get along with all dogs, she does prefer adult dogs over puppies. We took her into one of our community cat rooms and she did well with the kitties too. Reba very much likes attention and affection from people, and we are absolutely certain that she would bring so much love and joy to any family that is looking to adopt a senior shelter pooch this month.

We had an absolute BLAST participating in the Cattle Call Parade today! 🐾🤠 So many wonderful people cheered us on from the crowd, and some shelter pups got out for some much needed exercise and sunshine! 🐾☀️ Many many thanks to our Brawley Union High School and Imperial High School Pawsitivity Club volunteers for walking the dogs in the parade today! 🐾❤️ We can’t wait to do it again next year! 🐾👍🏼

Trudy came into our back in May of this year after being found roaming around a neighborhood behind Walmart in Brawley. Her and another dog had been there for about two weeks, and both were sleeping under a park table and seats. Both went into a foster home, and the other dog was adopted. Trudy remains in her foster home and her foster family tells us that she loves teenagers, but loud noises and horse play scare her, so she wouldn’t do well in a home with small children. She likes cats and adult dogs but prefers to be around other mellow tempered pets. Trudy is potty trained, and she loves to cuddle and sleep under the covers. She also loves human affection and sunbathing in the yard. Trudy would make the perfect pet for someone who is retired and looking for a tiny lap dog.
