Azul came into our care several weeks ago from someone who found him after he had been hit by a car. We don’t know how long he went without getting help after his accident, but when he came to us, it was clear that things were bad. Azul was rushed to the vet and ended up being hospitalized for several weeks. He had so many injuries that we could not believe he was still alive. The worst of his injuries was a diaphragmatic hernia. In a nutshell, the muscle that controls breathing was torn, and some vital organs were out of place… The surgery required to save his life was so involved that it took two surgeons to work on him. A few days after his surgery, Azul was bright eyed, walking around, and he had a very healthy appetite! The doctors and our staff were shocked at how well and quickly he recovered after such a major surgery. Azul has turned out to be very sweet and extremely affectionate! He loves to be held and he loves to love and rub up on people. Azul has been around other cats and dogs and he does purrfectly fine. For those who are looking to expand their furry family, Azul the miracle kitty will make sure to fill any heart and home with an enormous amount of love!

Lilo came into our care at the end of March… and with three VERY cute kittens (who will soon be available for adoption). She was found in Mexicali and we were asked if we could take her and her kittens in and of course we said yes! She was taken to the veterinarian’s house that we use over there to be fostered. Our vet did an amazing job caring for her and provided a quiet and peaceful place for her to raise her babies. Lilo is a very sweet girl who loves to get attention from people. She has a very mellow temperament and doesn’t really do much. She likes to lie around and stare at people with her beautiful blue eyes until they finally give in and pet her until her heart’s content. Being that Lilo is such an amazing and loving cat, we are confident that she would make the purrfect addition to any furry family. Spider Man and Captain America came into our care from Brawley Animal Control back in December of last year when they were about 4 weeks old. We immediately placed them into a foster home and have been there ever since. If you look at the picture, you can see that Spider Man has a blue eye and a yellow eye. Being completely white and having two different colored eyes is indicative of deafness in some animals. In Spider Man’s case, he indeed is deaf. The reason why we have these two as pet of the week is because they do need to be adopted together. You see, both of them are bonded and do not like to be separated. When separated they do become upset and begin to cry. The two of them do everything together and never stray from one another – they are inseparable! When something is happening and Spider Man isn’t aware, Captain America will get his brother’s attention so that he knows what is going on. Although the two never leave each other’s sides, they do like to interact with their other foster siblings. Spider Man and Captain America do very well with other cats, dogs and all humans that they meet. They are very friendly and very loving to everyone! Their situation is a first for our shelter, but now that we fully understand how the two of them function together we are confident in saying that they are ready to find their furever family. Particularly one that has some extra space in their hearts and home for this fantastic feline duo! Francesca came into our care on the 17th of March after being found alone next to a trash can in an ally in El Centro. It wasn’t clear if she was intentionally left there, or if she wandered there herself in search of food. When we took her in we noticed that she was quite thin and she ate as if she had not eaten in days. Shortly after her arrival we were able to place her into an amazing foster home! Her foster mom says that she is a very sweet kitten. She has tons of love to give and she is always happy to see people, no matter how often they walk into the room. She craves attention from people; the more the better! She is a huge cuddler and she loves to zoom around the room with her toys. She can be very vocal at times. Her foster mom attributes that to her letting you know what her thoughts and opinions are. She loves to be included in family activities and she will even sit on the couch and watch television with you. She’s been known to help with paying bills and shopping online as well! When not watching her favorite programs or helping with computer work, Francesca can be found doing her most favorite thing of all – playing with her favorite toy that looks like a carrot. It sounds like Francesca is a well rounded kitten with quite the skill set. She’s definitely ready to find her furever home! ‼️Everyone meet 3 year old, “Sophie”‼️😻 ⚠️(50% off all adoption fees this week ONLY!) This cute girl has been at our shelter for almost 2 years now! She came in from Holtville Animal control while pregnant and was ready to give birth. Just a couple days after coming in our care, she gave birth to 4 kittens. All her kittens were eventually adopted except her because she was feral during some time. Soon after all her kittens left, she became friendly but was very timid. She has now opened up to people more and loves to have her back and head rubbed. She has a very cute unique raspy meow (as you can hear in the video) when she is calling for attention and she also meows and purrs when she is being loved. She has become one of the sweetest most loving cats at the shelter. Her adoption fee is $25 this week only! If you would like to meet Sophie, come to the Humane Society of Imperial County during business hours to meet all our kitties 😻😻😻 Please share!
