As we move into our third (🙀) calendar year in operation, we are taking time to reflect on how incredibly lucky we are. We have the best employees, the best customers, the best community, and of course the best cats. We could not have done it without the wonderful people around us. To the employees who show up every day to scoop litter, to the family members that crawl into tight spaces to change blown fuses, to the customers that buy our coffee and love on our furry babies, thank you ❤️. Every saved kitty is a team effort of epic proportion and we are forever grateful. Merry Christmas, happy holidays and here's to the new year 🐈🐈‍⬛

Let's talk about 💫Stomatitis💫. We have been getting lots of questions and concerns about Mr. Ismael and we love that! We always shoot for 100% transparency and love that the community cares about our babies as much as we do. This handsome devil arrived at animal services with severe stomatitis which is characterized by extremely painful swelling in the gums and oral cavity. Short term fixes are available and vary in success rates but the most successful treatment is tooth extraction. That means this sweet guy lost most of his teeth. A result of this is that he drools... a lot. And with fur that glorious no amount of grooming makes him not-grody 100% of the time. Hes not sick, and he's much more comfortable sans molars, he's just a drooly boy that would love to be YOUR drooly boy. Thank you so much for loving our babies as much as we do!! ❤️

Happy Saturday!! One of our favorite things about adoptions is how much the room personality changes with new groups of cats. Right now we are CHALK FULL of playful, snuggly tabbys! Come visit them 😻

We are SO SO excited for Paws and Pages! This will be a collaboration with local bookstore Cactus Flower Bookery who will have a pop up shop filled with hand selected books for you to browse and supporting them comes with perks from us! All book purchases those days grant you 15% off all cafe drinks AND Sun City Kitty merch AND the purchase of a children's book will grant you a voucher for a free walk in cat time for your child/children so they can come read their books to the kitties! The vouchers do not have to be used that day, they are open use and a paid adult does have to accompany children. We love childhood literacy and love shelter reading programs so we are so excited for the chance to team up with a great local book shop! Make sure you come check it out!

It's here! Chile City Kitty in the Mesilla Valley Mall will have it's grand opening Sunday October 22nd at 12pm! Some things to know:
1.We will post the link to book cat time this coming week
2. Kitties begin moving in this week and will have staff present in intervals to give them time to acclimate to their new foster home before the public comes in
3. We will NOT have coffee just yet. We are waiting on a couple more inspection items from the state and will have a grand opening event for the Cafe side asap but we will have pre made snacks and drinks and of course a ton of fun cat gear available!

The time has finally come! We are hiring baristas/cat foster parents for our Las Cruces location with a tentative start date in mid October.

UPDATE: SHADOW HAS BEE FOUND! LOST PET ALERT!! Long time visitors may remember Shadow, the spicy senior torti that inhabited the prime window spot last year. She was adopted to a wonderful, adoring home but slipped out this evening while her owners were moving. If you are on the westside, especially near Bristol and Lakehurst and see a long haired torti PLEASE let us know! We want her to get back to her family!

Painting with Cats

Are you a creative person? Do you enjoy having absolutely no control over how a project turns out? Painting with cats is for you! Participants will be given canvases, paint, masking tape and scissors (for awesome negative effects), as well as cat treats and catnip to encourage kitties to participate. Paint is placed on the canvas and then placed in protective plastic and then for an hour your job as co-artist is to encourage cats to create a masterpiece. Will it be the next Starry Night? Or simply a vaguely cat shaped splotch? Who knows! They're cats. But may the odds be ever in your favor. Book Now above!

Donatella comes home

Donatella is back!! After a checkup she was cleared to come back to her friends and siblings and is doing excellent. If you come to visit her PLEASE love and snuggle her on the floor. Her back end is still regaining strength and we don't want her trying to jump off of the benches 😊. We are so excited to have her back with everyone!

Donatella update! The video speaks for itself but aside from being a little crooked and weak she is getting around admirably and should be back at the Cafe after her followup in early July!

Gus, the three-legged, half tailed kitten is fitting right in at the Cafe! It looks like nothing is going to slow this cutie down 😍

Donatella update! She is regaining some feeling in her back end! WHOOO!!! Her right leg has some slight tone but is still mostly flaccid but she's starting to use her left leg to get around pretty efficiently and has regained some control of her bowels and bladder and prefers to use the litter box again. She still needs help voiding and tires out easily but compared to earlier this week when she couldn't even move this is INCREDIBLE. Thank you for your well wishes!
