Join Dr. Cortinas and this handsome pup Monroe as we discuss laser therapy and why it's important!
✨Therapeutic laser therapy reduces pain by decreasing inflammation, as well as decreasing the tissue chemicals that may stimulate pain by affecting nerve conduction.
✨Laser also enhances healing by increasing microcirculation and increasing growth factors.
✨Laser therapy is painless.
If your pet is experiencing any pain and/or arthritis laser therapy can support HUGE benefits in combination with joint supplements and/or injections that we offer for dogs experiencing osteoarthritis.
Take advantage of our 20% off laser therapy for the month of November for our Senior Wellness Month!
Meet Tommy the tick! 👀
This little guy was catching a ride on one of our patients today to the clinic 🤠
It seems as though this guy hadn't had a blood meal yet and was freely crawling to find a delicious spot to call home.
🤔Did you know? Fleas and ticks can still get into and take refuge in your home during the winter months!
👏A year's supply of parasite preventative for your pet is much more affordable than the amount you'll spend on topical treatments, medications, and an exterminator for your home.
😬Your pets aren't the only mode of transportation for these parasites. Humans can also transport these pests to and from locations.
🥶Although considered seasonal parasites, fleas and ticks can endure some pretty harsh conditions so year round prevention is key!
❤️ HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! ❤️
Today is the day of love and Dr. Cortinas would LOVE to give you some information about anesthesia!
🤍WHAT'S HAPPENING WHEN MY PET "GOES UNDER"?
"Inducing" is when we administer medications that cause loss of consciousness. This allows us to perform invasive procedures without your pet being aware or feeling pain.
Anesthesia is usually induced by an intravenous medication which allows us to pass a tube into the trachea. This gives us safe access to the airway and allows us to deliver inhaled anesthesia into their lungs which KEEPS them under.
🤍HOW DOES YOUR VETERINARY TEAM KEEP MY PET SAFE?
Our veterinary teams can and will monitor the following while your pet is under anesthesia:
Heart rate/EKG
Body temperature
Blood Pressure
Pulse Oxygen
🤍HOW DOES YOUR VETERINARY TEAM PREPARE FOR ANY PROBLEMS WHILE MY PET IS UNDER?
Preoperative exam and lab work prior to surgery to ensure your pet can safely withstand anesthesia
IV catheter placement and fluid administration during surgery
Injectable medications that reduce the need for inhaled anesthesia and make your pet comfortable
Preparation with emergency drug calculations and monitoring your pet very closely during surgery
🤍HOW COMMON ARE ISSUES UNDER ANESTHESIA?
At least one abnormal side effect usually occurs during any anesthetic event and is normal and expected.
Our staff is very used to and fully trained on addressing these issues quickly!
Anesthetic deaths are very rare especially when a pet is being monitored and precautionary measures are taken. Always remember: The benefits of most recommended procedures always outweighs any risk of anesthesia!
🐶WE ADVISE TO ALWAYS TRUST YOUR VETERINARIANS PREANESTHETIC RECOMMENATIONS, DIAGNOSTICS, DISCHARGE AND AT HOME INSTRUCTIONS ETC. 🐱

While treatment is the reactive response to pet health problems, prevention is the proactive way to ward off health issues before they strike. Schedule a checkup with us today to stay on top of your pet’s health.
It’s easy to understand why bringing a pet to run errands is tempting. But leaving them in a hot car for just 10 minutes can result in up to a 13-degree temperature hike! If you’re ever in doubt about whether it’s too hot for them, it’s usually best to leave them at home.
