RRCA picked up this juvenile bald eagle from south Arkansas yesterday. I believe it's been grounded for awhile due to feather condition. It's extremely emaciated. Blood test have been sent to a lab for lead test. We've started chelation treatment as it can take several days for test to come back.

RRCA took in this adult bald eagle today from south Arkansas. I do suspect lead poisoning from experience. Blood was sent off to the lab but test results could take up to 6 days. We started it on calcium edta immediately as a precaution. The edta attracts the lead and its passed through the mutes, or p**p as we call it. I don't have very high expectations for this bird, I hope I'm wrong.

It's a new year and I'm back posting about our rehab activities! I apologize for the hiatus but RRCA has been busy with birds! I'll post some catch up pictures, videos over the next several days!

I'll start with an immature bald eagle we took in from West Little Rock Arkansas 16 December 2024. Incredibly imaciated. It's doing great now, healthy appetite! The first picture is on intake. I literally walked up to it and picked it up.

A Canada goose was dropped off at Baeyens Hauck Veterinary Group in Sherwood AR this morning for Raptor Rehab of Central Arkansas for treatment. Unfortunately, the goose had to be euthanized due to the severity of the injury due to fishing line being wrapped around its leg, blood flow was cut off. Please, whenever possible, pick up discarded fishing line. No, the leg could not be amputated, it's illegal and unethical.

Unfortunately, no pics, but RRCA took in a great horned owl this morning that was blind due to severe cataracts. It sadly was euthanized
