Got to run up to Iowa with a group of farriers for a certification. It was an educational experience as always. we had a great group of testers a great host and great horses to get under. I will always be grateful for the people that continue to be stewards of this trade and the plethora of knowledge they share.

Off side fore limb and off side hind limb from a horse named Powerball. These hooves are at six weeks. At the end of a shoeing cycle is the best time to evaluate hooves. This is the time I decide what adjustments to make in my trim or in my forging to achieve a better result.

A common scenario is for a new horse to show up on your mat with instructions to just shoe it. Very often that horse does not come with a shoeing or soundness history, but does arrive with the assumption from the person paying the bill that there are no foot problems.

I am a farrier that has recently relocated from Stephenville Texas to El Reno. I am searching for clients in western Oklahoma. This includes but is not limited to: Enid, Weatherford, Elk city, Hobart, Duncan and Lawton and anywhere in between.
With my skill set, I am not limited to any particular discipline. I have extensive knowledge and experience with equine anatomy and lameness. I can work with a veterinarian if needed. I have references from trainers, vets, as well as, other farriers if needed.

PSA sometimes long toes don’t cause the lameness but are just associated with it…..

For example a horse could start growing longer toes/distortion because it’s legs have become sore. to compensate for the soreness the horse stands or walks differently . Causing the hoof to bare weight in different areas. Which in turn causes distortion in the hoof capsule.

Tomorrow this group of 65 competitors from 12 countries will begin the 2023 Blacksmith World Championships at Spruce Meadows Masters. All of the practice is done and now its time to show the world what the best of the best looks like!

Just a hoof fe**sh. These are basically all the pictures I’ve taken of hooves I’ve shod over the last couple of years. A lot of these hooves are not fully finished and shined up so you can judge my shoe fit. Let me know west y’all think!
