Fun times in the small city! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by with their adorable pets for the 2024 Tavern Annual Holiday Pet/Family Photos.
Paws up for cooler and doggy basket, a big shoutout to our Canadian friend of the rescue for the hockey tickets, and a big thank you to for hosting it again and JW Photography.
Wishing you all the happiest of holidays filled with love, health, laughters, and plenty of treats (for you and your furry friends)!

The countdown is on for the 2024 Tavern Annual Holiday Pet/Family Photos. It’s time to dust off that glorious ugly sweater, strap on your elf ears, and bring your furry (or feathered or scaled) friend(s).
Whether you’re posing with your dog, cat, parrot, or iguana, we promise this will be a picture worth framing.
We can’t wait to see our Pal alumni and meet new friends. So, grab your crew, bring the pets, and get ready for some merry mischief.
Come on down, have a laugh, a drink or two (and support a great cause while you’re at it)

Georgia on my mind… we have been stalking that little gal ever since we saw her intake picture at the Carson shelter! Amazed (not in a good way) that she was found/dropped/dumped in this sorry state… as soon as we could, we picked her up.
It took a while for our “chief” to give her a much needed haircut and a much needed bath (skunk had nothing on her).
Despite of that, this little miss is the sweetest of all.
If you’re interested, we’re accepting applications for her - http://www.palrescue.org/application.html

One, two, three … this is how many times some dear friends and friends of the rescue adopted a three-legged dog!
We’ve placed 9 tripod pups so far (and we even have a feisty 2-legged one who’s thriving at her foster mom’s, commanding respect from all her dog and cat playmates).
Delilah’s story is a bit tough. She was surrendered by someone going through a rough time, living on the streets. Thankfully, she’s got a clean bill of health from . Though her name means “delicate,” there’s nothing fragile about this girl—she’s been through a lot in her 4 years and come out stronger for it. Now, all fun and games (and lots of love) with her new pal and pawrents

Meet Delilah, another one of our amazing 3-legged dogs who’s looking for her furever home! We’ve placed about 6 or 7 tripod pups so far (and we even have a feisty 2-legged one who’s thriving at her foster mom’s, commanding respect from all her dog and cat playmates).
Delilah’s story is a bit tough. She was surrendered by someone going through a rough time, living on the streets. Thankfully, she’s got a clean bill of health from C.A.R.E.S. Though her name means “delicate,” there’s nothing fragile about this girl—she’s been through a lot in her 4 years and come out stronger for it.
If you’re interested in giving Delilah the home she deserves, please fill out an application at palrescue.org (http://palrescue.org/)

You always hear stories about dogs being dropped off at the vet, groomer, or trainer and never picked up, and you think it will never happen here. Wrong! Benny had a similar story. He and his brother were dropped off at a trainer, but their owners never came back for them. In the end, it was for the best, as both Benny and Gus found amazing, loving pawrents!

We want to wholeheartedly thank Julie Stolnack and Kim Huntoon for their generous donation.

What do you do when you have two little dogs and are turning 60? Walk every block of our little town of El Segundo — from Aviation to Vista Del Mar and Imperial to Rosecrans.

But this wasn’t enough; Julie wanted to do some good too. She invited eight businesses to join her as sponsors and picked eight local charities to be the recipients of their generosity.

Check Julie’s Facebook account, Second City Rover, to learn more about our town and join her too before it ends on August 17.

You can find Kim at The Powder Room Hair Salon - 120 W. Grand Ave., El Segundo - (310) 702-5717 (hours by appointment). She also does some good for the community as she volunteers her hair services for those in need during her time off.

Thank you, Julie, Kim, and Peppa the dog who joined one of her walks and donated as well.

We extend our profound gratitude to Wendy for her generous donation in honor of her dear friend who lost her faithful companion.
Porter was adopted as a pup and went on to live a life full of love and adventures — the life all dogs deserve.
May his legacy continue to inspire kindness and compassion. 🌈🐾
With heartfelt thanks

Lottery of Life! At just 5 days old, these two adorable puppies found themselves abandoned in a box overnight at the Carson shelter. The shelter urgently posted on social media, seeking a rescue to pick them up before 5 pm.
One of our extraordinary fosters took them in, tirelessly bottle-feeding them day and night for some weeks. While we already miss them, we’re overjoyed they’ve found loving forever homes.
Their journey wasn’t exactly from the outhouse to the penthouse (like ), but pretty close, from a cardboard box to a cozy home

Dropped faster than a hot potato… to life is a beach! When your past “owners” didn’t like your size… but you end up living - literally - by the beach with amazing pawrents. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and dog dads out there!

The old man of the hour! It was a pawty at The Tavern on Main to celebrate one of our pups who was adopted by friends many moons ago. Tank is a pillar of the community, well, more the Tavern, where everyone can’t pass by without saying hello. While we (2-legged ones) were having a few cold ones (perfect weather today), the 4-legged ones enjoyed some pals, mini park, mini treats, big belly rubs, and big cakes. Happy 14th to Tank and Happy 15th to his pal Charlie

Friend and former volunteer of Pal, Megan, is whipping up some amazing cookies all for a good cause (so far, my favorite is the chocolate chips banana pudding… but the Oreo is a close second). Megan is the mom of Liv, an adorable little girl who was diagnosed with CASK, a rare disease with less than 300 cases worldwide. She is creating magic in her licensed kitchen where the smell of butter and cookies would melt everyone’s resistance to the gutter. If you want some finger-licking delicious cookies, follow and order them and help raise funds for CASK.

The HSUS (Humane Society of the United States estimates that animal shelters care for 6-8 million dogs and cats every year in the United States, of whom approximately 3-4 million are euthanized. Allowing your dog to have puppies only contributes to the problem.

RIP Critter. One-eyed Critter the Killer was the original OG, not just small, but tea cup small with a big personality.
This sweet little soul welcomed hundreds of dogs throughout her life at the rescue, many of whom found forever homes but some (not perfect) stayed behind.
Critter provided TLC to newborn puppies, dogs, and seniors, loving them all. That Goliath also stood up to some giant annoying pals.
I had the honor of babysitting her, and it didn’t take long for her to feel at home with my failed fosters, whom she had met once at the rescue. Pizza helped too!
Hugs to her pawrents! Run free across 🌈

Meet Carter, a 9-month-old Bichon who is still looking for his forever home.
Carter’s journey began when he was bought for breeding, but he was too large for their (evil) plans. So, just like that, they gave up on him and gave him away!
Carter is incredibly sweet - truly - and loves his foster’s grandkids and playmates, very easygoing. He longs for a family who either works from home, craving the fun and warm presence of his new pawrents and playmates.
