I was talking to my loper the other day, and she asked me a question that really got my wheels turning. She said "why don't you ask the owners more details about the horse when we get them in" she said she's always wanting to know every detail about the horses life story and I never ask anything, in fact when she comes back from her days off, and there is a new horse, she's lucky if I even know it's name.

I had to think about it for a minute, it's because I don't want to pass judgment on the horse before I've even seen it. Don't get me wrong, I need important information, if the horse flips over every time you put a foot in the stirrup, that's relevant. I don't need to know every single fight that you get into with him. Because that's going to cause me to unconsciously change my body language and my feel when I approach those situations with your horse, I don't want to do that, I want to treat him like he's perfect.

The day you drop your horse off with me is the first day of the rest of his life, he's a blank canvas for me to paint. I don't want you to tell me all the black marks that are on it. They don't exist in that moment, it's just me and him in a round pen having a talk. If he's got skeletons in his closet, he's going to show them to me, I don't need help finding them.

Sometimes, if you just treat a horse like he's perfect, then he will be.

We had a fabulous time at Red Tail Ranch Equestrian Center doing a 4H clinic with the Teller County kids last weekend. The kids were a blast and we hope we can come back next year.

We think Arlo is a pretty cool dude!

Arlo is a 13 year old been there done that gelding. He's as close to bomb proof as one gets without going to the taxidermist. He's been shot off of, trail ridden, crosses anything you put in front of him, parades, Umbrellas, traffic, you name it. He does ride out alone or in a group, this doesn't happen with the wave of a magic wand, it will be up to the new owner to maintain this good training, and trusting relationship. He is also educated in the arena, and could be shown in 4h, or other small local shows. He's got a easy lope, and is soft in the bridle. We think he's tons of fun! He stands 15 hands and he's located in Elbert. Send me a pm to come give him a try! He's priced very reasonably at $8000.

Who doesn't love a nice sorrel cowhorse?

Cali, sired by Mr. Playin expensive (stands at the 6666), is a barn favorite and enjoyed by everyone who rides her. Cali is a very safe mare in the arena, and is suitable for youth as well as timid riders. She's a quiet, but responsive mare that is attentive to her rider and looking to please. She has no vices, and does all the things you would expect from a horse this caliber. Cali is looking for a show home. Versatility? Ranch riding, reining. I've been giving her a refresher, and she's doing well! Put sliders on her last week. Cali has had quality training in the maneuvers in the past, she will need further education to be shown in the cowhorse or reining.

He's Big, he's Pretty, he's young, and he's sound. Mellow is back from winter pasture and ready to find that perfect rider. This draft cross gelding has been in and out of training with me for the past two years. He's done a bit of everything, low level dressage, he's got a bit of reining training, we've used him to gather and sort, we've tracked the dummy and roped off him a bit. Owners says sell him!
