Our Story

Cerberus German Shepherds (Trademark as of May 12,2019) Nestled on 15 acres in Elberta, Alabama (next to Pensacola, FL), our passion for German Shepherds is unmistakable. We breed working line German Shepherds. We require health testing and pedigree in our litter. We do not have an issue with the showline, but our passion is the classic German Shepherd. We do promote rescue “on our dime”... people come to us because they want a specific type of dog. Moreover, we believe either “go reputable or go rescue.” We love German Shepherds and it does not take long before you realize...we speak with sincerity.

07/12/2019 Someone mentioned we haven’t updated in a while. Hard to put “us” in a paragraph. I will say we love german shepherds. We have a training ground going up, with a schutzhund club in our sights. We want to start one on our property and worked on that for years. Aided in hundreds of dogs out of rescue, mentor would be breeders. Help adopters after adopting out of rescue. I could go on and on. We have a lot of engaged followers and most not purchasers of our dogs, most are from rescue, or those who like to follow us as we talk about training, nutrition, product reviews, the list goes on. We have one female left but feel she is a sar dog. But since we are “whelping box to grave” we chip as second and haven’t quite found the right owner for her, we have turned down about 5, she stays until she goes, and that stay could be forever as far as we are concerned. But not many angles we don’t approach. How about we say we do very much love the breed, and in our area, known for aiding them in every angle we can possibly think of.

1/12/2018- We expect to breed Desdemona around Valentine’s Day 2018. We are using the same stud as before so will be full siblings to Prima. She is 7 months old. The pup we kept from our last litter. Both parents are AKC and thus, the puppies are papered. Both parents are OFA tested both parents are hips/elbows good and on the database and stud (DM cbp) and Dame (dm recessive). The pedigree on both sides are schutzhund and police lineage including Czech police line. Many of the lineage hold IPO titles up to IPO3. Our pups will be $1,300 firm, and we make no apologies. You are getting a $1,300 dog. We do not do pick of litter. We are having the puppies professionally puppy tested and we believe in the right dog to the right owner. We have working line dogs, and given the results of the puppy test we want the right fit. Some are wonderful for first timers but again, depends on the situation. Our marginal cost in the puppy is roughly $500. We do not cut corners. The pups get their health exams, shots, they are microchipped and we register as secondary, they are papered (but we do not name as we find this part of the bonding process). We have them in a customized whelping room built specificially for rearing puppies including a dehumidification fan and even pump in classical music. I sleep in that room for weeks during their first weeks of life and monitor them heavily. We travel 30 mins one way just to make sure they are weaned on fresh raw goat milk. We use raw meat diets with our dogs and thus the puppies, but we adjust them to kibble as the 8 week mark approaches. We won’t be taking deposits until confirmation of pregnancy. If it takes, will be around April 15th at birth (did I mention I am a CPA). They will be available to go home 8 weeks thereafter, but the longer they develop in their whelping environment, the healthier the dog will be. We do health guarantees, and we follow up with the dogs and aid in any step you wish to take. We will personally register the dogs at point of sale to the microchip as secondary. We do not do this to be invasive, we do this to be contacted if our dogs are ever in peril, we will always be their safety net. We are not the cheapest (and we never will be) but adore these dogs but in about month, we intend on breeding. We do not breed every heat. I like to take care of the puppies all day during their first weeks of life to insure the healthiest and happy puppies that we take great pride in. The biggest thing we stress and we do it in writing and verbally, if you cannot handle the dog ALWAYS return our dog to us.
