UPDATE!!$ its been a while but its good news; I’ve be in a rehab home for 3 weeks and don’t reccomend it! We’re breaking me out of here tomorrow!!! Glenn will worki on my physical therapy - and will cook. I’m very weak but have a walker and am getting stronger.
I’m going home… haven’t been home since early May!!!

12 days ago a doctor said to me “Just stay alive until we figure this out”. Doctors feel that chemo has messed with my blood which has messed with everything else. Anemia ( 20 transfusions), kidneys ( dialysis), taste, water retention, lungs…BUT y’all know I’m tough!
No pain but a lot of inconvenience and boredom. Your encouraging messages , cards and gifts mean a lot!!!
The “somewhat rare” meds may take weeks, so keep prayers coming. Thank you, Jeanne

We’re getting ready for Pendleton, and I’m really looking forward to this, our second show of the year. Getting back into my “groove” is just what I need to be inspired to be creative.
It’s a little scary, since I’m still weak and have some side effects, but I want to get back to work, and I’ve missed YOU!
I’m almost finished with a new “ cow “painting, ( Jolene) plus I have other new works you haven’t seen, so please come see us this weekend’

It WAS a sign of better times for us. It was a hard weekend because I’m out of shape, but it felt good to be able to work like that, and we needed to be with people and friends! And we did well, with numerous long/time customers coming to give hugs! Thank you!
Our next show is Pendleton Spring Jubilee in early April!

Sautee Nacoochee Winter Fest - this weekend ! I’ve gotten a lot of my creative energy back (having a deadline will do that).
The image here is a painting I’m determined to finish today while Glenn frames “stock”. It’s been almost 7 months since our last show and I’ve taken a good many framed pieces to Home Sweet Home.
I know we’ll be short some regular pieces, but we will have a lot of notecards and unframed stuff!
I still have side effects of chemo and am very thin, with thinning hair, but this will all get better! Thank you, friends, for all you’ve done to encourage me! Come see us at the Sautee Nacoochee school Saturday and Sunday !

Home Sweet Home - look at this cute “sewing chair”! I painted over the old fabric and did an original acrylic bird nest on the seat. You can hide treasures inside or even your sewing!!!
I took ALOT of milk glass in also, so take a look. More artwork soon!
I’m feeling way more energetic and will do our first art show February 17-18 at Sautee Nacoochee near Helen!!! I can’t wait!!!

UPDATE!!! I had a PET scan Wednesday and on Thursday I looked at MyChart and didn’t understand the terminology but got the feeling it said good results. My doctor confirmed it today . I’m cancer FREE!!’
I’m enjoying food again , gaining weight ( I hope not too fast), and getting my energy back slowly . I’ll stilll get to wear pajamas all day for awhile.
Thank you, everybody for the food, cards and gifts! And prayers!!! They certainly have meant a lot! MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!❤️

Home Sweet Home ..,we just reworked my display ( after a minor mishap) and I’ve added ALOT of framed pieces and Christmas notecards. I’ll add more this week.
The snowman paintings are originals that I lowered prices on, then marked them down today with a red mark! You can see in the other pictures, I’ve added a lot of small, gift-sized prints.There’s an event tonight from 5-8 involving cookies, so head to Home Sweet Home!!!

Update… first I have to let you know that we’ve decided that I’m not going to be up to doing the Cullowhee NC. “ Hard Candy Christmas “ craft show next week. Another hard decision since I shown there almost 20 years.
I’ve continued to recover from the side effects of cancer treatments , which were brutal ! Still weak, but sleeping through the night some.
I’m getting my taste back slowly and ate almost a whole basket of McDonald’s French fries yesterday . They were So good!
I plan to cook a small turkey breast Thursday -we haven’t even been home for thanksgiving in years! Wish me luck!
Dr says it’s normal to lose weight with cancer treatments which is somewhat reassuring ! Now I can get Glenn to quit buying me cream filled donuts!!!
I do know that when my taste fully returns , I plan to splurge on some of the things I’ve been seeing on TV for weeks … Arby’s Reuben, Pizza , any pizza, and Mexican anything!!!

Finally, an update. It’s been a hard 3 weeks,but tomorrow is my last radiation treatment ( #30). I’ve spent every day laying on the couch ( with my therapy kitty), and it’s going to take weeks to regain muscle tone and strength. Radiation burns will continue this week, then hopefully I’ll start to heal.
At the start, I wanted to let you know what goes on when someone has to be treated with chemo and radiation. Most people don’t share this.
I’ve experienced Fatigue, appetite loss, weight loss, taste loss, mouth sores,
Diarrhea, dry scaly skin, itchy burning radiation burns ( a nurse told me that my radiation is the worst for a woman), you can’t scratch a burn, so it’s hard to sleep at night.
Cards of encouragement come in every day, and you all need to know how this has helped my spirits, to know that so many care and are so kind.
Thank you. We’re planning to do our Thanksgiving show in Cullowhee NC.
This is now a goal to get to work! I miss work!!

This is Iris… small one eyed bobtail , self appointed Therapy Kitty ! If I’m not laying on the couch, she searches for me, calling . I’ve been sleeping on the couch because it’s close to the bathroom, and Iris is usually on my chest, face next to my cheek; during the night she checks on me, with a sweet throaty hum and will lick my cheek. she’s full of personality and makes us laugh A lot! A funny little girl!

Today, this brought me to tears! Longtime customers (25-30 years) blessed me with these gorgeous flowers. Thank you Sheila and Richard. I wonder if I can dry the sunflower seeds and plant them next yesr.

Today was #13 treatment and the radiation “burns” are getting uncomfortable . After another 5 days on the road, we have the weekend to catch up on chores like laundry. I never thought I’d look forward to that!
My B12 level is still quite low but another round of shots will perk me up, I’m sure.
I’d lost some weight over the summer, but Glenn is doing his best to put weight back on me by “forcing” me to eat such goodies as these cream filled doughnuts!. If you cut them in half, it doesn’t seem like so much. Comfort food, right? Doughnut therapy?
I want to thank you all again for the cards and prayers. Every day I hear from someone , and it definitely makes me smile, Actually, I’m doing very well.

Well, here it is "The Beast" as a friend had named it.
I lay on that cold metal table, and am scooted toward the machine, which wakes up and sends those 4 "arms" to surround me and starts rotating slowly. I have a rubber ring to hold on my chest so my hands and arms don't move, and barely breath so I lay as still as possible. I have Magic Marker x's all over my abdomen and hips that the technicians line up with lights, so the Beast can send the radiation to the right place.
BUT, so far, I'm doing well, with very few side effects, so continue to send positive thoughts and prayers - they're working!!!
Tomorrow starts another 5 days - bummer!

PS. We had 4 hours between treatments last Wednesday so ate breakfast at Waffle House - we don't eat out much and it was a shock $25!!! Breakfast!!!

GiFT CARD SCAM? Today I was starving after radiation and craved Zaxby’s. We had a gift card that I had kept with a receipt that showed a balance. Nope, was told it was $0! Gave another that I hadn’t used ($25) and it was $0!
Not long ago another I hadn’t used ($100) was $0!!! I tend to hold onto gift cards for when I don’t want to use cash, what happened? Any ideas? Bummer!!!

Hungry baby bluebirds. I tapped on the house, and it was really hard not to giggle!!!

I’m a happy girl. At lunch we watched the tiny marmosets in the trees. That alone was fun, but we got a piece of fruit and fed them! I had a hard time not giggling too loud!
