Do you ever wonder where those missing socks go? We found one!
Ace came in acutely ill—he was vomiting, would not eat, and severely lethargic. His x-rays showed a foreign body in his intestine. Surgery was needed, and Ace’s humans agreed. Dr. Rachel and Amanda removed a sock from Ace’s jejunum. 🧦
Many dogs are fond of eating socks or other pieces of clothing, and they can often pass in the stool. However, they can also get stuck...
Surgery went well and Ace is happy to be home with his humans. He is doing great! 🐾🥳

Please welcome Danika, our newest veterinary assistant! 🥳She deeply loves all animals, but especially loves cats.
She would take every stray animal home if she could! We and our patients are so lucky to have her and we love her already. We know you will love her, too.🐾🥰

Indy had been vomiting and not eating for 24 hours, and then lost his ability to walk. Indy’s human carried him into our clinic, thinking it was time to say goodbye. 🥲
Indy was severely dehydrated, had a fever of 105.4, and tested positive for Lyme and anaplasmosis—both tick borne diseases.
Dr. Kendra gave a very guarded prognosis as Indy could not move by the time we saw him. His human wanted to try…🐾💙
Amanda started IV fluids, gave IV antibiotics, anti-nausea medication and monitored Indy’s vitals.
Within 24 hours, Indy started lifting his head for food, and in 48 hours he was walking again. One week later, he is back to normal! 🙌🙌🙌
Tick disease can be very, very serious and we recommend oral tick control from March until November. We also recommend vaccination for Lyme disease. Please call or text us if you have any questions.

It is national veterinary technician week, and we have 3 of the best: Amanda, Carrie and Amber. They work incredibly hard and are dedicated to the care and health of our pets. ❤️
They are the right hand of our veterinarians. They are anesthetists, phlebotomists, dental hygienists, radiology techs, laboratory techs, nurses, educators, nutritionists, teachers, comforters and dog whisperers…just to name a few of their responsibilities.
In an often difficult job, they continue to shine bright because they have a deep love for animals and a desire to help. They are highly compassionate and understand the importance of the human animal bond, and they are passionate about their work. 🐶🐈
THANK YOU Amanda, Carrie and Amber! You have helped thousands of animals (and their humans). We honor and celebrate you this week. We could not do this job without you.🥳🐾💜

At LRSA, our heartbeat is to provide high quality, compassionate and affordable veterinary care for our patients and clients. With the recent closure of two veterinary clinics in our area, we’ve seen a significant increase in demand for our services. This demand, coupled with rising inflation, increased costs of delivering veterinary care, and limited staffing, has made it challenging to maintain a healthy work-life balance for our team. Because of this, we have made the temporary decision to consolidate our staffing to have a full team 4 days a week. We will be seeing appointments and surgeries M,T,W and Fridays. On Thursday, the clinic will be open only to dispense product and answer phones.
We feel these changes are necessary, but we also know this may be inconvenient for you. We thank you for your patience as we navigate this new schedule. We thank you for your trust and loyalty to our clinic. It is our privilege to serve you and your pets. 🐾❤️

For 2 months, 6 year old Bonnie had been having brief “episodes” where she would seem painful, lay down, and then recover when given pain medication. She was losing weight and not eating well. She was lethargic. When we did a work up, we discovered a large mass on her spleen.
The spleen is an organ in the body which stores red blood cells. If there is a mass on it, the spleen can leak red blood cells into the abdomen or even rupture, causing acute blood loss.
70% of masses on the spleen are highly malignant cancers, and 30% are benign. It is impossible to tell the difference based on the size or the look of the spleen without removal. However, the spleen had to be removed; it was continuing to grow. We couldn’t know prior to surgery if it was cancer or if it was benign, and there was no guarantee.

Bonnie’s human wanted to give her every chance at a possible cure. Dr. Kendra, Amanda and Amber removed the spleen in July. It weighed 4 pounds!

The news was bad—-the mass is a hemangiosarcoma, a highly malignant type of cancer. 1-2 month is the average life expectancy with this type of cancer.😢

The good news—Bonnie’s human believes in the power of prayer, and we have been praying for Bonnie since all of this started in late June. We are now 2 months post surgery. Bonnie is currently doing FANTASTIC and is gaining weight. She is living her best life and is deeply loved. 💫🐾❤️

We are hiring! Come and join us! 🙌
We are hiring a veterinary technician or a veterinary assistant to join our team.
We value the human—animal bond, and have the privilege and responsibility to care for pets. The ideal candidate loves animals (and their humans), is a great communicator, is friendly and a team player.
We have laser surgery, digital xray (full body and dental), and in house laboratory equipment. We just added canis major lift tables to our exam rooms to help our patients and to protect the physical health of our team. Best of all, we have an amazing group of people we work with every day! ☺️
We offer a competitive wage, profit sharing, discounted veterinary care, uniform allowance and SIMPLE IRA with match for all employees. We offer PTO and holiday pay and medical stipend for full time employees. Depending on the candidate, this may be a full or part-time position.

Little Peanut had a sting hanging out of her mouth—when her human tried to grab it the string broke off! 😳
Within 12 hours Peanut was extremely lethargic, painful, and not eating. She came to us severely dehydrated; radiographs showed her intestines were “bunched” together by the string (think of pulling a drawstring tight on a sweatshirt). The back end of the string was stuck in her stomach, and the front end was trying to move through the intestines. It was starting to cut through the intestines and release bacteria. 🥹
Emergency surgery was needed.
Dr. Kendra and Amber removed string from her stomach, duodenum and jejunum! Peanut was started on IV fluids, and antibiotics and pain medication.
She started eating the next day, and is doing great! 🙌🐾💛

Working in the veterinary profession allows us to develop unique relationships with people as we care for their pets. It is one of the sweetest parts of our job. ❤️
We have a client who is a veteran of the Vietnam war. Last week, he was taken by ambulance to the hospital in St. Cloud, and his beloved Cooper and Maggie were left behind with no one to care for them. Our client called Penny at 9:30 Thursday night—he was very upset and afraid for his dogs, and he didn’t know what to do. Penny reassured him that she would take care of things and then she called Amber, who immediately went to the house to get his dogs and bring them to our clinic. Our team then came in all weekend to care for Cooper and Maggie: Penny even recruited her niece Maddie to give the dogs a few extra walks!🐾🐾🐾
Our team is very grateful to military veterans. We thank them for America’s continuing Independence Day. 🇺🇸
