Forgive us for the lack of posts and for being way behind on our online welcoming to our many new Waghouse dogs! 🐶We have been very busy (full on large dogs Monday and Tuesday this week!) and unexpectedly had a staff member need to leave us 😔 so we are working our bums off to focus on our dogs getting the best days so I haven’t had that extra moment to make posts, videos, etc! But don’t worry, they certainly will return! 😎🥳 Thanks for your understanding and patience but your dogs pulling your arms off coming in to us, and many that have to get pulled out or picked up to leave us to go home, are yours and our enjoyment and pleasure to see for the current week 😉

Hiring for part or full time: Please be clear of the needs of this position as many do not make it past probationary period because of many reasons, but the main reasons have been 1. lack of understanding of HOW MUCH WE CLEAN here and 2. that we are dog TEACHERS. We aren’t just sitting watching dogs play all day…Waghouse is different because we are HELPING them learn to play SAFELY. Think of child daycare! You can’t just let the kids do whatever they want… they need guidance. We work on basic play manners to enhance and ALLOW active play but also SAFE play in our groups. 🥰🐶

Waghouse Dog Daycare is a small business in Eldersburg, MD which opened in September 2022. We are creative, innovative and fun and our goal is to provide a safe, organized and fun environment for groups of dogs to play, inside and outside, while interacting with each other and our staff.

Waghouse Dog Daycare is looking to add a new canine handler, or two, to their team. Hours can range from 10-30+ hours but are very strictly associated to the work ethic, motivation, attention to detail, and consistency shown by the applicant and quality training shifts proven.
In general, our shifts currently begin ranging at 6:30am, 7am, 7:30am and 8am for morning shifts, and 1pm, 1:30pm, 2pm or 3pm for afternoon to closing. Closing shifts end at around 6:30pm after we close at 6pm.
We hire at Part Time with possibility of turning into Full Time (if the applicant is looking for full time) once consistent work ethic, thorough task completions, and positive attitude is proven.
*Management position also potentially available in the future.

Experience in *Dog Daycare* settings is a PLUS when applying with us so please point this out in your strengths because experience in working with GROUPS of dogs is so unique especially if it has been in a dog daycare setting. Also if you have worked in professional dog training, veterinary setting, grooming and/or kennel setting, as these are much more closely related to the needs of understanding group and individual dog behavior than other dog related jobs.
Online training that we pay for will be provided to all hired staff members, and new staff will be required to complete these dog training courses within the first 30 days of hiring, on their own time. This is not a temporary position and new staff training is a personalized, paid program so please be serious when applying.
The position is a Dog Caretaker/Attendant with the possibility of: bathing dogs, dog nail trims, dog ear and teeth cleaning, a**l gland expressions, and lots and lots of cleaning tasks.
This is a highly stimulating, loud environment where most of the day you are teaching dogs manners while cleaning up many dog messes, and you are constantly on your feet and moving. This is not a sit around and watch dogs play job- we are their teachers and constantly helping them to learn and keep them safe and understanding one another. You must be able to handle the constant high energy, stimulation, and loud noise... all with a POSITIVE, happy attitude to keep them happy also!
Canine Caretakers are required to take photos and videos of dogs in their group on their personal phones of the dogs playing to send to the owner of Waghouse to use to post online for owners and followers. This starts day 1 so your phone must be capable to do this and ready to send these to another phone.
YOU MUST BE COMFORTABLE TO SPEAK TO CLIENTS AND COWORKERS, not just work with dogs.

Shout out to Talia on her 1 year “WAGGIVERSARY!” Talia has been a great asset to Waghouse since day 1; bringing more positivity and a bright smile that makes dogs and staff alike enjoy their time here even more! 🤩 Talia is bright, talented and trustworthy, but above all she is motivated to continue to learn and grow in any and every direction she can. Alyssa joined the Waghouse team last month and we’ve been happy to add another smiling, hardworking and upbeat face to the team! 🤠
Alyssa comes to Waghouse with dog daycare handling experience as well as experience working in an animal shelter. 🐾
Previously a human medication technician and caregiver, Alyssa missed being around dogs too much and came back to the animal industry!
She is currently in school for nursing and we’re hoping that being around all the awesome Waghouse dogs and humans keeps her with us even after she gets her nursing degree. 😉

Happy 2 Year WAGGIVERSARY to Alex! 🎉 Alex was hired when Waghouse opened and waited til we needed more staff to get him going with us. I love that he calls Waghouse his “fun job”. He started with us when he was working as a full time Frederick County Animal Control Officer, and I had to remind him to stop scaring clients by wearing his AC uniform jacket here to Waghouse 😂 He soon after moved to Montgomery County Animal Control where he is now a supervisor! Alex is here about once weekly now days if you catch him. He continues to be an asset to our team with his knowledge of dog behavior and the laws on the proper care and cleanliness in a dog daycare setting, handling skills, and love for these Waghouse dogs he’s watched and helped to grow and learn! 😎 Thanks for continuing to be a part of our team, Alex!

It's that time of the year — our annual Dog Swim! 🐶☀️ Bring your dog to paddle, fetch, & play in our pool. Dogs must be friendly and sociable to other dogs, and be up-to-date on all vaccinations. Proceeds benefit the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter & dogs in need of homes. Open to members and non-members.

🐾Happy Friday from all of us at Waghouse!🐾 As school ramps back up (OUR busy season!), some friendly small business reminders:
🐶We are closed Monday for Labor Day!
🐶All dogs MUST be leashed when walking into and out of Waghouse. This is for your dogs protection. There is a lot of blind spots with cars as well as we try to avoid all leash/car reactive interactions between dogs that could ruin their daycare experience and socialization progress.
🐶BOOK in ADVANCE if you can! We were very close to booking up today and don’t want to have to turn you away 😪 We just only have so much space! We have people book up to a year in advance if you’d like!
🐶 Yes, we take morning reservation requests, but please wait for your confirmation email before arriving to make sure we aren’t full.
🐶Remember to cancel if you need to! We need at least 24 hours to work on the waitlist for these booked days and sometimes we only have space for certain temperament groups so the sooner you know you won’t be showing, please send in your cancellation!
🐶No show/late cancellation fees are being enforced. The economy is not getting any fairer and again, Waghouse only has so much space. We want to keep our costs fair but can only do that if we have a fair understanding of the amount of dogs we are providing for day by day.
🐶Late pick-up fees are being enforced. We work our bums off with your happy wild-child’s all day and can only complete our cleaning with all dogs home for proper sanitation for the next days dogs. We do have to compensate staff for having to stay longer to complete these tasks thoroughly.
🐾We really do feel so grateful for such amazing clients with just as amazing dogs and will always be understanding of reasonable circumstances so please if there is ever a concern or misunderstanding, reach out and I’m sure we can resolve it!

Happy 2 Year WAGGIVERSARY to Alexis! 🥳Since the Waghouse official opening on August 29, 2022, Alexis has been my right hand woman. A talented dog handler and behavior evaluator, she has helped so many dogs find their happy outside of their homes at Waghouse! 🙌Alexis is a key component for why Waghouse is so proudly a SAFE and fun dog daycare for the dogs of this community. 🐶We are so happy you found Waghouse and know it wouldn’t be the same without the care, attention and talent you’ve shared with these dogs and handlers, including myself. Thanks for a fantastic 2 years, Alexis! 🐾
