Those small, yellow specs you see on your horse's forelegs are bot fly eggs. The horse licks and rubs them due to the fly irritating the horse when laying the eggs. This causes them to hatch and enter the mouth of the horse, eventually working their way to the stomach. Deworm late November early December with dewormer that kills bots. If your equine is returning from any state with a confirmed case of Vesicular Stomatitis then you want to make sure you are aware of the requirements for your equine to enter back into Missouri.
