Although winter is not the time of year that people usually think about disasters and evacuations, it can be just that. Power outages, floods due to ice jams, and snowstorms can lead to problems even in the winter. We strongly encourage all of our clients to have a plan for pets in the case of a disaster. Please check out this link to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) website, which has a list of tips and recommendations to prepare a pet disaster plan. Be prepared for your pets' sake, as well as for your human family.

Be prepared to take care of pets and other animals, especially during disasters such as fire, flood, or other emergencies.

On the 12th day of Vetmas my doctor gave to me ..... the Human Animal Bond

The human-animal bond is important because it offers us significant mental and physical health benefits, such as reducing stress, anxiety, and loneliness, and can even improve physical health markers like blood pressure and heart health. This bond provides emotional companionship and unconditional love, which can create a sense of purpose, encourage exercise, and promote social interaction. It is a mutually beneficial relationship that is crucial for both human and animal well-being

On the 11th day of Vetmas my doctor gave to me ..... Senior pet care!

Senior pets make up 44% of the pet population. Adequate senior care often requires a multifaceted approach to address all their concerns and medical issues. It is important to remember that age is not a disease and there are many things we can continue to do to continue to give your pet a great quality of life. In senior pets, we place great emphasis on medical and interventional therapies, environmental modification, awareness of medical conditions, environmental modification and nutrition. Seniors deserve the best possible care and it is our goal to provide them with the resources to live long happy lives.

On the 10th day of Vetmas my doctor gave to me ..... 10 words to describe heartworm and parasite prevention!

Life-saving, simple, lifelong, monthly, tasty, effective, protective, important, necessary, safe. Heartworm and parasite prevention are vital to your pets health. Mosquitos, fleas and ticks can find their way to all pets, even indoor only cats and dogs that never leave their yard! They can also be found in all months of the year. Heartworm disease in dogs is not only expensive to treat but can leave lifelong damage in the animal's heart and lungs. One simple monthly chew can prevent heartworm disease as well as kill fleas, ticks, roundworms and hookworms.
