Joy is a special girl who is up for adoption! She's a friend of Broken Wiener Refuge via Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida. She uses a little wheelchair and is super fast! She LOVES to play ball. Bernie has had two back surgeries. He came to us all the way from Portland, Oregon for those who are new to his story. His First Mom Bev has become a dear friend and supporter with donations, her time and love. This is Bernie last night…he has gotten so strong he is raising himself of the floor. It is a big accomplishment for a para dog. We have exciting news we will be moving to the new house and using the pool for therapy very soon! Stay tuned for updates as I am hoping to see improvements for several of our babies! As always we thank you for the encouragement, love and support with supplies or donations towards nutrition or vet bills. Can we start by saying how much we apologize for be so absent lately. As many of you know, we are coming to the end (finally) of our new home being built which has taken much long than we expected. We are in the home stretch but it as been very time consuming. We are tired. The pony tail is rushed and messy. The days are early and very late. We are often asked…why would you take the most desperate pups. Why would you take so many and with such issues to the new home you are building. This is Bodie…he is 18 years old, paralyzed, can’t do his potty on his own and gives his whole heart and soul to share love. He is so loved! He is vibrant, happy and full of love. How can we not love what we do….I felt his love coming to me when I needed it most. What we give we receive a million times over. Thank you for kind thoughts, donations of supplies, funds and love!!! We hope you have an amazing Easter! Love, Rico, Sonya and all the pups ❤️

If you're Happy and you know it wag your tail! Sammy came to us paralyzed and with sepsis-full body infection. He spent his first few days with us in critical care. Medications, wound care and a lot of love....SAMMY wagged his tail for the first time and we caught it on video!!!

Shorty came to us paralyzed 8 years ago. He is walking and goes in the pool for therapy. Lol he is a champ!

This is Bosey with his new walk! We hope you enjoy this as much as we do. Each time he gets up and walks to where he wants to be brings smiles!

Chopin and Ice playtime! Ice is trying to use those back legs and having a great time!! His tail never stops wagging now that it can! Slow and steady wins the race; he’s getting stronger every day. 🥰

Ice is standing more and more!!! It’s a short video but we just had to share! He is wagging his tail like a champ and loves to play. Taco is right in there for the fun!

Isaac update!! He is really doing well! He was not super comfortable on the changing table, but he was able to urinate on his own and you can see him putting weight on his back legs! The doctor says he looks really good and to continue what we are doing with him. He’s a super happy guy and loves cuddles and belly rubs! #teamisaac

Mayce has to expressed everyday so how do we do it? Well we help her with the ”pee pee” song of course!! Close to half of our residents have to be expressed several times a day. We go through LOTS of potty pads! Thank you to all who have been donating. It is truly helping so much. FB wouldn’t let us post the video with the pics for some reason, but here is a video of Vienna taking care is Shorty!

We’ve had lots of inquiries about how our kids use the drag bags. Here is a demonstration of how we prep the bags so that their legs don’t get raw from “dragging”. Hope this helps anyone who has a paralyzed dog or knows someone who does. Please share this video to help others.

When we were cleaning him up tonight, Isaac gave a solid “from the base” tail wag!!
