July is Lost Pet Prevention Month! Shelters and rescues have an influx of stray pets enter their facilities in July, many of whom have run off during fireworks or storms. Ensure your pet is reunited with you, with a microchip. Unlike collars, this is a permanent identification that cannot fall off of your pet. Always remember to pack extra water and a travel bowl for your pets when adventuring outdoors this summer! Even when dogs are swimming, the can still be at risk for dehydration or heat related illness. Contact your veterinarian if your pet has fallen ill after spending time outdoors. #vcaspets
