render an animal, the Elizabeth Animal Shelter is a kill shelter. If you have lost your animal you have 7 days to reclaim the animal, after the 7 days he/she will be up for adoption, if deemed un-adoptable and nothing more can be done, the shelter will have to take on different measures.

Union County dog owners are advised to check the temperature of any asphalt or concrete pavement during the heat wave to make sure it is suitable for walking their dogs. At an air temperature of 87°asphalt can reach a temperature of 143° — and at 125° skin destruction can occur in just one minute.

It may be helpful to test the pavement temperature yourself by trying to put the back of your hand on the ground; if it’s too hot for you to hold your hand there for 7 seconds, it is too hot for your dog.

MEET STORMIE Who Is Currently Living At The Elizabeth Animal Shelter!

STORMIE is a gentle, passive girl who needs a quiet, loving home with lots of cuddles, structure and a routine.

She has a really moderate activity level and would be happy just laying around all day if you let her- as she really is that simple!

STORMIE needs to be the only pet and would do best in an adult only home at this time in her life as she is just about four years old!

STORMIE is housebroken and enjoys walking with her human.

STORMIE cannot live with cats.

These two brothers were seen being thrown from a car 3 days ago on Monroe Ave. In Elizabeth.
Let this be very crystal clear. Abandoning animals without food and water in the streets is a CRIME. There will be fines to be paid and depending on the severity of the dog’s state when found, even animal abuse charges.

If you cannot care for your animals anymore please bring them to the local shelter in Elizabeth. At least they’ll have food, water, and shelter.

THORKIN is a playful and affectionate one year old Black Lab/Golden Retriever mix who has the body of a Lab and the coat and tail of a retriever!

THORKIN is gentle natured, intelligent, fun, and well-behaved which makes him the perfect companion for other dogs, kids and adults!

THORKIN has not been cat tested.

THORKIN loves to play, explore and take naps. He would be a wonderful addition to a family who has love to give.

THORKIN is housebroken and knows some basic commands!

MEET STALLION who is currently living in the Elizabeth Animal Shelter In NJ!

STALLION is the cutest one year old chocolate labrador retriever and pointer mix who currently weighs about 50 pounds!

STALLION is housebroken and would benefit from learning some leash manners as he does tend to pull a bit in his excitement at being outdoors!

STALLION is stilll a puppy and as such will need to learn basic obedience commands- like jumping up on his people.

STALLION loves to play with his toys just as much as he loves belly rubs and back scratches!

STALLION would do well in a home with children over the age of ten and is fine with other dogs!

STALLION has not been cat tested.

MOUSE is the cutest 10 month old Manchester Terrier/Bully Mix who currently weighs about 30 pounds!

MOUSE is almost housebroken and would benefit from learning some leash manners as he does tend to pull a bit in his excitement at being outdoors!

MOUSE is a puppy and as such will need to learn basic obedience commands- like jumping up on his people.

MOUSE loves to play with his tennis ball and squeakies just as much as he loves belly rubs and back scratches!

MOUSE would do well in a home with children over the age of five and is fine with other dogs!

MOUSE cannot live with cats!
