🚨 Hot Summers Means Hot Pavement!

Did you know that asphalt and sidewalks can heat up higher than the air temperature? Here's a quick test: hold the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your dog's paws! 🐾

Tips to Keep Your Dog's Paws Safe:

✅ Walk earlier or later in the day when it's cooler.
✅ Use Paw Protection: Dog booties can protect their pads.
✅ Walk on the grass instead of the pavement.
✅ Check your dog's paws daily for signs of irritation.
✅ Try indoor enrichment games.
✅ Opt for activities in or near water, like swimming or walking along a creek.

KodaBear is a 6 month old husky/mal mix.
🐾Leash trained
🐾Potty trained
🐾Kennel trained
🐾UTD on all vaccines
🐾NOT neutered (must agree and sign that you will have him neutered)
🐾Good with other dogs
🐾Good with cats and small pets
🐾Good with children but preferably would like him to be homes to a younger child free home.
🐾Knows sit, lay down, and knows potty.
🐾Not Food aggressive
🐾He responds very well to KodaBear.
He is a !COUCH! potato, he loves being on the couch with someone to snuggle him if we had no responsibilities my time would be on the couch with him cuddling all day. He is playful, but can be very shy at first, he takes time to warm up to people when he warms up he is a little silly boy! He is very very talkative! He loves to play in a pool! And loves to go on car rides, does great in the car and in stores, at the vet etc.

KodaBear would make the perfect fit for a young couple! Especially someone with a cat, he really loves cats and is very gentle with them, his interactions with cats are awesome!

With a heavy heart I hate to make this post, but due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be taking a long break from boarding and rescuing any pets at this time. Took gunner to the vet Friday he was throwing up and not eating so they did x rays and said his intestines was swollen So they gave him nausea pills, a stomach pill. And some Shots. Came home no more puking but he won’t eat nor p**p but will Drink. Took him back to the vet Saturday they did another x ray and said his stomach looks a lot better and said he had some p**p Forming. Gave him more nausea medicine and appetite medicine. So come home. He ate 2 bites of food, still no p**p. Had a laxative Saturday still no p**p.
Monday comes and he throws up twice, so we take him to veterinary medical center and they do ivs, more nausea medicine, and did more x rays. And they said they don’t see a blockage in his intestines but it could be in his stomach. They want to do blood work which is $250 and if it comes back clear they want to do an endoscopy to look inside his stomach which can cost up to $1500. I hate begging and asking for money but when it comes do this I have no choice. It’s been really rough on us a tree recently just fell on our home and cars. We are also $700 deep in vet bills already!!!
Please any help at all!!!
He is my reason for doing what we do!! He is my lifeline. Please help him feel better.

When we started this rescue 6 years ago, our mission was to help the abused, neglected and discarded dogs in our city and beyond.

Our mission has never been to relieve you of you of the commitment YOU made to your dog when you took them in.

People have babies and keep their dogs.

People change careers and keep their dogs.

Peoples schedules get hectic and they keep their dogs.

People move and find a way to keep their dog.

People run into issues with manageable/trainable behavior AND THEY KEEP THEIR DOGS.

These situations are not unique.

We didn't start this rescue to bail you out. I'm sorry, I know that may sound harsh-- and yes, we know that there are absolutely situations in which people can truly no longer care for their dog- and we help with those as much as we can.

But for the love of Dog-- step up for your dog. Show up for your dog. Show your dog the same love and commitment today that you showed them the day you brought them home.

Dogs are being euthanized here, in Philadelphia, every single day because the shelter does not have space. FRIENDLY. HEALTHY. HAPPY. ADOPTABLE. DOGS.

Your dog is no different than any of the dogs at ACCT that have been losing their lives every day and if you give up on your dog-- they could be next.
