It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our wonderful, spicy, yet loving clinic kitty Riff Raff.

Riff Raff came to Heartland in 2018 after being rescued from another shelter pulling at our heart strings and looking so sad. Upon bringing him into the clinic we soon realized he was very uncomfortable and seemed very painful. We came to find out he had an autoimmune disease called Immune-Mediated Polyarthritis and needed to be started on long term steroids and joint supplements. After that he just never left, filling our hearts with his spicy shenanigans and keeping us on our toes. No food was safe and he was always into something, even being a senior cat. No arm was safe from his love bites that sometimes were not too gentle!

Today he lost the battle against issues that we knew could arise from having an auto immune condition and needing to take long term medications.

Nonetheless we were so honored to have him around for what was too short of a time, but so glad he got to live out his remaining years happy and causing as much havoc and mayhem as possible! Rest in peace our little white bison.

Everyone meet Chirp!

He was brought to us last Thursday by a Good Samaritan who found him along the road covered in blood, and thought he had been hit by a car.

He came in covered in blood, fleas, lice, and mites. He had ulcers in his eyes. All we could find was a puncture wound on his forehead. Thinking maybe he was possibly thrown from a car.

Even though he had all that, he purred the entire time we examined/bathed him.

Got him a bath, treated his eyes and skin.

Once he is healed, vaccinated abdominal dewormed he will be ready for a new home!
