Even the deer know our shelter is a safe haven for animals. 🥰
Bozley practicing his soccer skills. Such concentration.
Just like watching a tennis match. 😂
Brandon M
• 6-month-old male tuxedo cat
• Sweet, playful, and cuddly boy
• Brandon would love a home with other playful cats
Brandon M is a dapper tuxedoed boy who’s around 6 months old. Named for the Channel 5 news reporter, our Brandon M is also destined for big things! Brandon is friendly, super playful, and quite the little lover boy. Slightly shy at first, he quickly warms up to new people, especially when they play with him. Brandon’s favorite toys are wand toys, so much so that he’ll drag them out daily if you don’t get them out first! Brandon also loves the company of other cats, especially playing with other kittens. He was taught to wrestle from an older kitten, so he tends to play a little hard. After his mom and best friend were adopted, the poor boy cried so pitifully! He really doesn’t want to be an only cat. His new roommates are slated to go home soon, and we’re hoping Brandon won’t be too far behind. Brandon also really loves people and snuggles, he just. We don’t know how he’ll feel about dogs. If you’re looking for a sweet guy who won’t fail to make you smile, look no further than Brandon M (the kitten, sorry but no promises on the reporter).
Indy:
• Female 3-year-old American bulldog
• Needs to be an only child, not good with other pets or young kids
• Indy is under-socialized and will need time getting to know a new person. Please be prepared to make multiple visits to the shelter to spend time seeing if you and Indy will be a good fit.
Meet Indy, or as we often lovingly refer to her, Piggy. Spend time with this beautiful bulldog and you’ll understand her nickname: this silly girl often snorts like a pig! It is absolutely adorable, and complete with her big toothy grin and full-body wiggles when excited, it’s hard not to smile around Indy.
Indy is from California, but you wouldn’t guess it with her love of snow! She is a beautifully muscled American bulldog who loves to play in the pool, chase rope toys, and go for walks. She is very energetic and will benefit from lots of exercise. If you’re in need of a workout buddy, Indy makes exercise so much more appealing!
Indy came to the shelter shy and under-socialized. It takes her time to warm up to new people. She will not only need a home without other pets or young kids, but she also needs a person who is willing to working with Indy to get her to be the happy, snorty, wiggling pup that we know and love here at the shelter. Please be prepared to make multiple trips to spend quality time with Indy before adoption. Indy is looking for a special person to earn her trust so she can give them a lifetime of love. If this could be you, please call the shelter at 518-873-5000 to find out more about Indy-girl!
Lola
• Almost 6-year-old brindled female Pit Bull
• Lola loves to be active!
• Needs a home without other pets or young children
New Year, New Chance
1021 days and counting…poor Lola has been at the shelter almost half of her life. The beautifully brindled pittie is a staff favorite, sweet and full of infectious energy. She’s an athletic girl who loves hiking adventures, long walks, fetch, and water. Lola has lots of energy but when the day is done, she enjoys cuddles and couch time.
So why is Lola still here? Well, when you first meet Lola, you’ll think she’s unapproachable. She needs multiple meetings in her comfort zone to be assured you’re not a threat. Once she knows you, she’ll be your friend forever. She has no interest in sharing with other pets or younger children. We’re looking for that special adopter who will invest their patience and perseverance to earn Lola’s trust. In an effort to get this beautiful girl the home she deserves, Lola’s adoption fee has been sponsored. Please visit our website to fill out an application.
Bosco:
• 1-year-old male Staffordshire Terrier
• Very friendly boy who loves people
• Happy, energetic and playful pup
Bosco is such an adorable young Staffordshire Terrier! This handsome lad is friendly, sociable, and a people-lover. He’s really enjoying his outdoor time and had a blast on his first trip to the play yard. Bosco loves playing with rope toys and chasing balls but is too excited to understand the concept of catch yet. Snowballs are a fun new toy, too! Bosco knows his basic commands and will perform for treats; he loves his cookies! Bosco gets so excited for his walks that he often starts out by dancing at the end of his leash, but a little time and training will quickly calm him down into a wonderful walker.
Bosco had enjoyed playing with other dogs and children in his past home, but we don’t think he’s met cats yet. Since Bosco is such a friendly, good boy, we think he’d learn to share a home with other pets, after the proper introduction. As long as his new home has plenty of treats, toys, and love, he’ll be one happy pup!
Please visit our website and fill out an application to meet handsome Bosco!
Lady:
• 3-year-old female Bluetick Coonhound/beagle mix
• Friendly, happy girl who loves teens and adults
• Favorite game is fetch
Lady is a sweet and social little three-year-old beagle mix. Lady made her first appearance on the shelter’s page when she was the most adorable fire-Lady for Halloween. Lady had no problem whatsoever with being dressed up and paraded around for videos and treats, in fact she enjoyed the attention immensely. Lady is quite the little lovebug, she greatly enjoys attention and affection. She adores spending time with adults and teens, but she doesn’t enjoy the company of young kids. Other dogs are fine after a proper introduction, but we’re not sure about Lady’s feelings on cats.
Lady loves spending time outside, be it for walks or for long games of fetch. Lady almost never tires of fetch; tennis balls are her favorite things. She’ll even sit and shake for a throw. The hardest thing can be convincing her to drop the ball for the next throw! Lady would benefit from long walks, short hikes, or a fenced in yard to run in to keep this fit girl looking and feeling her best, and always ready for her next costume change. Please visit “Adopt a Pet” on the shelter’s website or fill out an application on this pretty little Lady!
• 1 ½-year-old white and tabby female
• Very friendly and sweet cat
• Bean can live with other cats, dogs, or kids of all ages
Bean is a pretty 1½-year-old white cat with some tabby patches. She arrived pregnant but is loving the free life with the kittens gone to good homes. Bean was a good mama, but she’s an even better cat: sweet, calm, curious, and an all-around content kitty. Bean loves naps, pets, wand toys, lots of treats and plenty of catnip. Given how sharp her play skills are, Bean is likely a good mouser.
Bean’s sweet temperament means she’s up to living with kids, dogs, or other cats. She was very patient with her kittens, but also likes having her own space at times. Bean is a very well-adjusted cat who would make any home brighter with her presence. This year, try shaking things up for the holidays and adding Beans to the mix! Apply on our website at www.ncspca.org.
• Eight-month-old short-haired male cat
• super friendly, outgoing, and playful
• Sammy loves affection, toys, and treats
Sammy is an 8-month-old male who was rescued as a kitten from a tree at a local trailhead. As adventurous as his origin story, Sammy is a larger-than-life kind of kitty, though he’ll likely be an average-sized cat. Nothing seems to spook or distress him; he’d happily live with cats, dogs, kids, and likely more. Sammy has the appetite to match his large personality and makes sure no wet food or treat goes to waste. Of course, with his adventurous spirit, Sammy does get into all kinds of things. His personal motto is “Everything’s a toy,” and there’s nothing that doesn’t catch his observance eye. But even when this adorable scamp is making mischief, there’s nothing he loves more than affection. Grab and distract him with a cuddle and in seconds he’ll be burrowing under your chin and purring like a mini-Mach 1, all mischief apparently forgotten… until his release. Sammy is an all-around spectacular kitty, please apply on our website to meet this great little guy!
• One-year-old black male
• Very friendly and playful
• Cash loves affection, toys, and treats
Cash is a slender, sleek, and handsome year-old black male. Cash isn’t the aloof kind of cat, he’s the constant companion kind. This stray is a big sweetheart, content to be held and cuddled like a baby. He loves his affection, but Cash doesn’t mind taking breaks to cat nap, chase balls, or gobble down treats at lightning speed. Spry and sharp-eyed, Cash loves to play and would likely be the death of any mouse he comes upon. Cash loves to wrestle with his friend Sammy but the boys play hard, so while Cash will be fine with other cats, he’d probably prefer another outgoing young friend who likes to tussle. We don’t know how Cash may feel about dogs, but he seems like a chill and adaptable boy. We think Cash will adore any kid who wants to play with him. If you’re looking for a new lover boy, look no further than Cash! Check him out on the shelter’s website at www.NCSPCA.org/adopt/petfinder.
Zelda
Zelda:
• 1 ½-year-old female lab/terrier mix
• Very friendly pup who loves people
• Happy, energetic and playful girl
Zelda is an adorable young lab/terrier mix with a large, joyful personality. This young lady is friendly, outgoing, and loves people of all ages. Because she’s just so excited to say hello, Zelda has a tendency to jump on people at first, but she’s working on her manners. She wants to please and she’s very food-orientated, and already knows some commands, so it’s only a matter of time until she learns jumping isn’t how to introduce yourself.
Zelda is young and has a lot of energy; she loves her time in the play yard. This girl likes nothing better than running at top speed after tennis balls. She’ll keep at it until she’s winded; a Chuck-it is a great way to quickly release some of Zelda’s energy. She also enjoys her walks and would make a stellar hiking buddy, though you probably don’t want to let her set the pace!
Zelda came in as a stray, so we don’t know her background and her tolerance for sharing a home with other pets. With her energy level, she likely wouldn’t be a good fit with an older dog or shy cat, but perhaps another young energetic dog for her to play with?
Please visit “Adopt a Pet” on the shelter’s website or fill out an application on the fun and friendly Zelda!

Beau:
• Seven-month-old brindled male Pitbull
• loves all people
• other animals are fine with proper introduction; Beau loves to make friends
Beau is a seven-month-old male Pitbull. This adorable boy is growing up into a very handsome adult, and he’s going to make someone a wonderful dog. Beau is super friendly and is so excited to make friends with everyone, regardless of species. He absolutely adores people and children, but he does have the tendency to get jumpy in his excitement. Beau is working hard to learn his manners and has been making great strides since coming to the shelter; he wants to please. His leash skills are great and since he’s not always treat-orientated, the best place to train Beau is outside, where he can play. Playtime is important for any growing pup, and Beau loves to chase after stuffed animals or tug on rope toys. Plus, playtime helps to get out some of Beau’s adolescent energy to prepare him for training.
Beau is growing up fast and looking for someone to help him transition from good boy to truly great dog. He has huge potential and heart, and he’s so ready to be adored. Please visit “Adopt a Pet” on the shelter’s website to fill out an application on this handsome hunk, Beau!
Mindy:
• 10-month-old female hound/beagle mix
• Very friendly pup who loves to make friends
• Happy, energetic and playful girl
Mindy is an adorable young hound/beagle mix with a joyous personality large enough to match her smile. This young dog is such an outgoing, friendly gal, and is all about making new friends; Mindy loves everyone! Mindy sees every person as a potential new friend. She’s very excited to meet each new friend and sometimes gets jumpy in her excitement, but she’s learning to listen and a reminder is usually all she needs. We were surprised to find that even in her excitement, Mindy is extremely respectful of young kids and knows to stay down and play gently with them. We bet Mindy would be thrilled to have a human sibling in her future! Mindy is also great with other dogs, and while we don’t know if she’s ever met a cat, we think she’ll likely make a friend of them, as well.
Mindy is like many young dogs and has a good amount of puppy energy to burn off. She loves spending time running around the play yard, by herself or with other dogs. She also enjoys her walks and would make a great hiking companion. Mindy also likes her toys, but her favorite reward is treats; Mindy is a very food-orientated little lady! Those high-value treats will help her continue learning her commands.
Please visit “Adopt a Pet” on the shelter’s website or fill out an application on the friendly and fantastic Miss Mindy!
Winnie:
• Two-year-old petite female cat
• Playful, sweet, and spunky girl
• Winnie likes kids but not dogs, unsure about other cats
Winnie is a delightful and friendly young kitty with a gorgeous reddish-brown tabby coat. Winnie came to the shelter because she feared the dogs in her previous home, and she’s still a little skittish. She can also be unsure about other cats, though she often tries to interact, especially with the kittens. But this little cat adores people! She has no problems insisting for your attention and just loves to be pet, though she’s not thrilled with being held for long. Winnie is very playful and can make a game out of toys, bugs, paper towels, and just about anything else that moves. She’ll likely make an excellent mouser. She’s all about the treats, and for a surprisingly tiny cat can really put them away! She is very sweet-tempered and loves spending her time around people. Winnie would make an absolutely wonderful family cat. Fill out an application to add Winnie to your family today!

Lacey:
• 3-year-old female pug/beagle mix
• Older children and other dogs are fine, cats likely with proper introduction
Lacey is a sweet and spunky three-year-old puggle. Lacey came in with her twin sister Lucy, and while the girls get along well, they’re better behaved and more receptive to training when apart. Lacey tends to let her sister lead when together, but her personality is confident and outgoing when alone. When both gals walked in this year’s Mutt Strut, Lacey ended up leading and was thrilled to meet all the new people and dogs.
Lacey is young, exuberant, and still has a good amount of energy. She enjoys walks and loves to zoom in circles around the play yard. She didn’t have much interest in toys or treats when she first came to the shelter, but she’s starting to show some interest. This can make training a little harder, but Lacey’s ultimate reward is affection. Nothing makes this girl happier than being loved! Lacey is very much a lap dog and loves to be cuddled and pet.
Lacey likes other dogs and loves older children. We believe Lacey will also be fine with cats.
Please visit “Adopt a Pet” on the shelter’s website to fill out an application on the very lovable Lacey!
