There are a lot of races March 8th that have popped up. We are looking to reschedule the race, with so much to go to between Vernon, and Shawnee again, but also for a VERY important cause. We would like to do a benefit race for Jake Brakes Pix . Many of our western Oklahoma locals know him and across the country far and wide taking pro rodeo pics as well as jackpot pics. He has given his time for pics at a lot of our races. This is one of the most genuine guys you could ever meet. He recently had to have an emergency brain surgery, with no time to plan in order to fight for his life. We want to host a race for him and his folks to help go towards medical bills. 100% of the money made and any donations will go straight to him. Period over and out. With that said are there ANY weekends near or far that are dead weekends (nothing going on) that we could do this on for them? We would like a time where there is not a lot going on elsewhere to attract the numbers. Would a week day during spring break be better? We are also wanting to do a YOUTH clinic coming up where again 100% of money will go to Jake and his family. All time will be donated. Your feedback matters...

Starting April 7th - then following first Mondays only from each month April - September! Free open arena times at 6:30 pm. We will have a person doing videos on professional camera to watch reruns so you can see yourself, and plan on having some guest professional athletes in to share short tips and testimonials those nights.

Two time NFR qualifier Tamara Reinhardt will be our guest April 7th, 2025 !

This is inspired from back in my college days at Tarleton, Martha Wright would go to the cowboy church arena and offer a very very short message on the 2nd and 4th Mondays called Bibles N Barrels, and she still does ! People would go through the pattern and she tells you what to do and work on. Very low key !

Some messages may be testimonial based, some may be motivational based, it’s whatever the athlete in that night feels led to do. Ride be apart of the sisterhood OR ride on your own there is no pressure ! Professional athlete on sight available if wanted !

Don’t want to ride come watch and spectate and absorb !

Draws are posted on SGP right now there are 46 entires a TON of people have 3 head some have 4 please be patient as some people are going to need a minute to get on their next horse ! If you have time feel free to ask and be available to help some people may be on their own!

Scenario based off of 135 entries at $50 fee 4D race. Barrel racers just want to see where our mindset is as an industry. I have a genuine question and using this for educational purposes and as a poll as well. I have a feeling the result will be 50/50 depending on if your are seasoning, a rodeo gal, a jackpotter etc. This is on a much smaller scale so imagine at bigger races what paying out one less hole would look like for prize money. Do you think going by BBR guidelines ALL the time that for CERTAIN scenarios we may pay out to many holes splitting the dollar up to where there’s not as much to win back? This is just a TINY visual on what 5 holes vs 6 holes looks like with 135 entries - remember there are still 20 checks going out with 5 holes that’s 20 places paid with 135 entries checks - OR 24 places/checks paid out with 135 entries with 6 holes but look how much the dollar changes. I also want to point out that the last hole in the 4D at 6 holes doesn’t even pay your entry fee back.. this is based off what BBR would recommend paying out at 135 head. I know I get it sometimes some money won is better than no money won 100% - but how do we make changes in the industry where the places paid are worth your overhead ? Yes it’s just $75 dollar difference to first, but when you start doing bigger added money and bigger entry fees it really makes a big difference with just one less hole paid depending on how that last hole is paid out. Im just curious.. for fun I did put 4 holes paid out just to see also adding in NBHA

Couple announcements 3 things to be exact for this weekend - 1st we will not be having the race on the 8th I was toying around with doing it but I think we would only be able to pull in like 10-15 locals which we love and are thankful for but there are some bigger and more important races going on that people are going to be going to that have let us know .. as they should!

Ashley Starrett will still be here at WR on Saturday to do horses teeth she’s an accomplished equine dentist with an incredible list of credentials so if you want to haul in to have horses teeth done please let us know we have a couple others coming in Great opportunity to get it done for the year !!

Second - there is a benefit race in Kansas going on from a tragic car wreck taking the life of Tabitha Ward - funds are going to the Ward family - knowing the story behind this if I could point anyone in a direction to go if you could go please go to this race 🙏🏻 I don’t want to pull people here knowing this is going on and knowing why it’s going on we send our love and support that way! COBRA will also be going on during the weekend in Erick 30 mins down the road for youth!

You are one of the few that CANT make it to either race - We will have open arena $15/person to ride tractor man on-site timers up lights on if you can’t make it to either race that’s going on but you want an atmosphere to cruise and work horses see where you’re at keep air in them - more than welcome to come Saturday do that get your horses teeth done and all the things! Arena will be open from 10 am-3 pm this Saturday!
