Sophia starting her second month with us, and looking to make her show team debut at the Brookside Equestrian Park Back to School show in Sept😍

Aseem and Player have been on FIRE lately, keeping the shenanigans to a minimum, and have clear concise rounds, all the flat work paying off😉

Aviana coming back strong after a wrist fracture forced a long 6 week break, looking absolutely fantastic on Peach 😍

Maddy and Ellie making progress every ride! Focusing on clean transitions and direct communication, love a good mare to teach the ropes!

Next show on the roster is River City Equestrian Events 🤞🎉

A small stab in the heart is what you feel when you put up the day's riding list and you see riders sinking heavily in their shoulders when reading which horse they are assigned for the lesson. A small stab in the heart for that horse that for an hour will carry around a rider who has already decided that he does not like his horse. A small stab in the heart for the horse that did not choose the rider himself but still does his best, lesson after lesson.

Riding is a privilege and something you have chosen to do. If you chose to ride at a riding school, your instructor assumes that you actually want to learn how to ride. The instructor's highest wish is that you get good at it.

Often there is a plan and a thought as to why you are assigned to that exact horse. Before you mount up next time, ask yourself "what can this horse teach me today?" All horses have something to give, a feeling or a new tool in the box.

The art is actually in being able to get a lazy horse to move forward, to get an uncertain horse to gain confidence, a naughty horse to focus or a tense horse to be released. It takes work. If you think a horse is boring, it's more likely that you don't ride the horse as well as you think! It's not easy to be confronted with your own shortcomings, but it is in that very situation that you get the chance to truly grow as a rider.

The excuse that "it's not my kind of horse" is actually a really bad excuse. A good rider can ride any kind of horse. A good rider has trained many hours on different types of horses to become a good rider. A good rider can find and manage the gold nuggets in every horse.

If we absolutely want to ride, it is our duty to strive to do it as best as possible, even if it's only for fun. We owe it to every horse that carries us upon it's back.

This heatwave has lead to a lot of slow easy lessons, and a lack of recording on my part- but here's a few moments from the week!
CRF Winter Wine joins the Hoofbeats' herd, with Aseem and Mila taking her for a spin this week!
Sophia and Anjuli(and her lovely pony Willow!) Took their first lessons as part of the Hoofbeats Team
Maddie S hopping on miss Dani during lessons while her owner is in Portugal 🦄
Maddy and Ellie still learning and figuring eachother out, getting more confident and comfortable each ride
DeNovo, after having several months to rest and reset his body and mind after coming from another program, is slowly making his way back to work, and WOW what a difference it has made!
And lastly, Summer tried Gus for the first time! Hoping he will be the one to teach her the ropes over fences 🤞

I also want to give a special shout out to this kid!
Mila's 4th show EVER, on a horse who is still very new to her(3 months together), coming off of a school pony has been a HUGE change.
Mila is one of the most hardworking determined kids, and it paid off this weekend!.3 days, 3 rings, jumpers Eq and Hunters!
CHAMPION in the short stirrup EQ division
2nd place in a very competitive .65 speed class
And multiple placings in her other very competitive 2' hunters!
THIS is what dedication and hardworking looks like!
Can't wait for the next one!!
Thank you Brookside Equestrian Park for putting on a fantastic show, and to Stübben Stübben NA Stubben California for creating such comfortable and beautiful saddles to lead to success!
