A declaration of snow emergency may be called by the City when there is two or more inches of snow accumulation or under high wind/drifting conditions.

During a delcared snow emergency, parking will be prohibited as follows, except after the cleaning operations have been completed:

^Please no parking on City streets for up to 4 hours or until your street is cleared. This helps our city guys clear streets as fast as possible. Should you have street parking only, please park on North and West roads until the other side is cleared and move to the other side.

Property owners are reminded that it is the responsibility of the abutting property owners to remove snow, ice and accumulations promptly from sidewalks. If a property owner does not remove snow, ice or accumulations within 24 hours following a snowfall, the City may do so and assess the costs against the property owner for collection in the same manner as a property tax.

The City of Elk Horn was awarded $4,000 from the Shelby County Community Foundation, $2,500 from the Tivoli Committee, and $500 from MidAmerican Energy Foundation for Park Equipment. The Park and Rec board is looking to add children’s swings!

The Exira Elk Horn Kimballton School has graciously donated park equipment from the school grounds to be relocated to our city park. We would like to have a community day for help with the relocation of this equipment in the Spring! Details to come!
