We are finally harvesting beautiful produce baskets! 😍
Colorful cherry tomatoes (and just a few large ones) 🍅
Various peppers 🌶️🫑
Herbs 🌿
Green and yellow beans 🌱
And many, many cucumbers 🥒

Cherry tomatoes are approved by baby Avis!

Most of our summer garden was planted later than normal, and was stunted by the drought last month. But with the recent heat and humidity, everything has exploded in growth! Exciting days!

It's baking day for the farmers market! 🥖🍪🧁

This week we will have organic sourdough focaccia bread in the following flavors:
Italian herbs and cheese,
Italian tomato and cheese,
Jalapeno and cheddar,
Sun-dried tomato and olive,
And . . . Pizza!

All the focaccia bread is fantastic warmed up, eaten as is, or turned into a panini-style sandwich. It also freezes and reheats well. Today I'm enjoying last week's jalapeno and cheddar bread for my lunch. The texture is just as good as fresh-baked!

Aw, sad day!!! Thunderstorms are moving through, and our outdoor market is cancelled 😭😭
We will try to make it to rescheduled kids day next week.

My 5-year-old daughter and I went grocery shopping for this week's farmers market. It's going to be kids day! She will join my booth with a lemonade stand and kid-approved treats.
Alleegy-friendly options will be available, too. As well as our popular Italian tomato and cheese focaccia bread, kombucha, and more!

The first garden salad bowl of the year must be documented! 🥬🥗
I love this time of year, when I harvest baby greens a few times per week.

We plant lettuce and spinach in high-intensity spacing in our raised beds. Because they shade each other's roots, they are more insulated from summer heat, so they grow longer before bolting.
So close together, they don't have room to form heads. But that's ok, because we prefer the "cut and come again" method of harvest: snip off 2-3" long leaves, wait for new growth, then snip again in a week or two.

We have heirloom garden seedlings left, and we will be selling them at the Elkhart Farmers Market this Saturday! Come on out to Kardzhali Park 8am-12pm 🍆🍅🍠🫑🥒
We will have multiple heirloom tomato varieties, as well as pepper, eggplant, tomatillo, sweet potato, sunckoke, and a few herbs and flowers.

Winter is hard for gardeners. We are itching to grow something lovely, but it's too cold outside. It's not quite time to start seedlings indoors.
So, during yesterday's nap time, my 5-year-old daughter and I planted a windowsill herb garden! 🌿🪴
We were gifted this indoor grow kit, and it's perfect. It has all the supplies: dehydrated soil, pots, tiny seed packets, cute plant labels. I'm excited to start tending growing things again soon!
