3 legged Husky groomed for the first time in his life. 🐩🐶

So I got to groom a really special dog.🤗
He is a 7 year old 3 legged husky. He lost his leg in a shooting accident.
This was his very first time being professionally groomed and OMG did he love it.🥰
He was recently adopted by a men's sober living house after his prior owner was incarcerated. 🔒🚔
I have to say this is such a good environment for him.
I am a huge advocate for addiction recovery, so I am truly honored to get to help these guys who are fighting to better themselves and help and amazing dog at the same time.

So I have been grooming for around 7-8 years now, and in that time,
I have defined my style of grooming as " compassion grooming."
I am not the greatest dog stylist. Don't get me wrong, my dogs don't look bad, but the look isn't my #1 priority.
My priority is the health and experience of your dog. 🤗
I wanna groom the dogs that people consider members of the family. I want the old ones that need extra special care🦮,I want the crazy spoiled puppies that never hear the word "No.""🐶
After the first appointment, I want your dog to be soo happy and excited when it sees my van pull up.🐒
I use no neck restraints and will always take the extra time to comfort them when they get scared of the dryer or a nail trim.❤️
Lately, Iam getting calls from a lot of people coming from a true grooming legend. She has over 30 years of experience in the industry. I am nowhere near that level, but I like to think what I do is something truly unique that all the best dogs in the world deserve. 🐕🐩

This is my first time in Southern Wv since I got my new scheduling system. It's truly opened up so much new potential for Scrappy Coco.😊
It feels like I have been doing this for 7 years with my hands tied behind my back. Now I suddenly see so much potential.

Here is my current plan. Iam going to focus on getting all my Logan regulars scheduled and track exactly how much time it takes to get everyone groomed. So in the future I know exactly how much time to block off for Southern Wv.
Meanwhile, I am making a list of everyone from Elkins & Buckhannon that are in need of grooming. Once I finish in Logan I'll take a day off to reach out to everyone on the list in order of contact.
I still have spots open for Elkins and Buckhannon new customers.

A little before and after of one of my new friends. He was in need of a blowout of his winter coat. 🐕 If you look in the background of the after picture you can see how much hair gathered in the floor just from the Blowout. We brushed out enough to make 3 pomeranians beforehand. 🐶

Also I'll be in Southern Wv next week. I need to make customer profiles for all my Logan regulars. So if you guys wanna message me this weekend I'll start getting everyone into the system.

I really appreciate you all giving me a bit to mourn the loss of my best friend Tatum. I'll be back to my full schedule next week. 🫡

Secondly, I have been getting a lot of requests for nails only. If I was in downtown Elkins one day every 2 weeks for no appointment, necessary walk up nail trimmings. Would some of you show up? If so please just leave a comment on this post so I can decide if this is something I should do.

Rest in peace, my gorgeous stink Muppet 😢
The reason I got into grooming was 100% for Tatum,my personal dog. I took her to a dog groomer 10 years ago, and the groomer was handling her so rough. With limited options, I realized if I wanted her groomed with the compassion she deserved, I would have to do it myself. That's why Tatum is my logo.
She passed away today. I am absolutely broken over it.💔 We have been together for over 17 years. She has been my best friend since the first day I saw her. She was my 1st dog. I am truly blessed by the impact she has had on my life. Because of her, 1000s of dogs have been groomed without fear and with the compassion to make sure they enjoy the process as much as possible.
In her honor, I will always treat your dogs the way I would want her treated.❤️

Scheduling use to give me the worst anxiety, but now, with this new app Iam more then comfortable taking calls.

🦺The Scrappy Coco Van is in the shop🔨 getting repaired until Wed the 8th. However, starting Monday the 6th, I will begin making appointments for when the van is returned.
I will also be accepting new customers in the Elkins, Belington and Buckhannon areas at that time.
Thirdly, Facebook Business has suddenly removed its calendar feature without warning. Iam in the process of learning and switching to "square appointments " please be patient while I learn the software.
Iam truly hoping to relaunch in a much more professional manner and to be the Groomer your amazing furry family members deserve. ❤️

Niko was on his way to the pound today. After being abandoned by his owner and turned away from multiple foster homes, the pound was going to be his only option. 😢
But I couldn't bring myself to do it. 💔

I reached out to a couple of my customers, and we believe we have a temporary fix.

We are going to board Niko at the animal hospital.🏥
This will give me the ability to work and will save Niko from the pound until I get back and can take temporary custody of him again.
If anyone is interested in helping out by sponsoring a day for Niko it's 30$ a day but anything helps.

Poor Niko is still in need of a foster or possibly a new home.
😢
It breaks my heart💔 just how abandoned he clearly feels. He didn't do well yesterday with one of the dogs at the veterans' house who was kind enough to offer him a place in their pack of pups.
He is so sweet one on one. He wants a human to love him more than anything.🐕 Sadly, Right now he is at a house no one is in. It's the best I could do and It's safe and comfortable but very lonely.
I am trying to stop by as much as possible but he deserves so much better. If anyone has a place or organization that can help with placement please reach out.

🇺🇸 Help needed for Veterans dog in Elkins🇺🇸
In Need of an Emergency Foster for an operation Iraqi freedom veterans dog.
Sadly his owner is going to be receiving treatment over the next 3 months and due to the situation no arrangements were made ahead of time. He is a bit high strung and crate trained.
At this time Iam unable to find his crate. So if anyone has an extra crate they would be willing to donate or let me borrow that would be a huge help.
I have zero options at my house for this dog right now. So if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

It's been a while since I have had a large wild puppy in the van. I was lucky enough to have 2 tonight. Both required the full contact wrestling strategy of grooming. 😅 I know they both had a blast and Iam confident after a few sessions they will be perfect little clients that will love the routine.
I feel like this is what makes me different from other groomers. I treat every dog like I would want mine treated. Thanks again.

It's finally time to thaw out and get back to normal grooming. This snow can't melt fast enough🤗. I'll be in Elkins and Buckhannon this week and will be adding some Saturday and Sunday slots too accommodate everyone in the fastest way possible. I wanna apologize for my extended absence from Facebook. Tatum my 18yr old terrier had a major decline in her health due to a virus she caught a little over a month ago.💔 She is doing better but is unable to travel. Iam currently trying to find a dog sitter in the Elkins area that's willing to take on a special needs senior puppy (& my others). I truly care about all my Logan area dogs like they are my own.🥰
Moving forward,
I have a window of opportunity coming up in about 2 weeks. The only catch is I'll need to work everyone into a 4 day schedule instead of 7.😬
Iam up for the challenge if you guys are willing to be flexible on times. As a result of my situation I'll no longer be taking new customers in the LOGAN area.
My limited time will be dedicated to those I all ready see on a recurring basis. I'll still be taking new clients in the Elkins Buckhannon areas.
Tatum is the reason I started grooming. She is the first dog I ever owned, she is my best friend, the leader of our pack, she is my logo and my soul mate.❤️
I treat every dog the way I would want her treated. I truly want to find a balance of keeping her comfortable in her last few months and caring for your furry family members.

Somebody did a hit and run on my car and The Scrappy Coco Van last night. I was unloading the van at the time and was luckily inside the house. They took off in a dark sedan with alot of damage. They totaled my car. If anyone knows anything please speak up. I will pay a 250$ cash reward. It was around 9pm in Elkins near the football field. I should know more tomorrow in regards to appointments.

Regan is really good at the dryer! I have a feeling someone likes hanging their little puppy head out the car window. 🤣

So here is a couple minutes of a blowout I did on a huskie (TANGA). Keep in mind this is what comes off after a good brushing and using the Furminator Deshedding brush. This is an average amount of hair for a huskie or a German Sheppard. You can't tell all this is trapped by looking at them you can't feel it unless you know what your feeling for but if you have a double coated dog getting this done is very necessary to keep them healthy after they shed their winter coat.

I could watch his little adorable butt scurry around the van all day. His little legs don't slow him down one bit. Oliver is just as wiggly and happy as any dog plus his personality is so entertaining. He has wiggle walked into my heart for real.

She's a rescue with ther scars too prove it. But that hasn't stopped her from loving life and being the sweetest pup. After a tough life this gorgeous chubby pitbull is in a happy home, She just wants petted and loved on. She got a little scared in the van but her face once we got inside and everyone told her she was pretty was priceless and then she didn't wanna let me leave.
