You can help this spring without being a beekeeper!

One of the most effective ways to support bee populations is by making your yard pollinator-friendly.
Transform your garden into a welcoming space for worker bees and other local pollinators by planting a variety of flowers. Choose a diverse selection of pollinator-friendly seeds that bloom at different times throughout the season, ensuring bees have a steady food source and helping to prevent colony collapse.

If you don’t have a garden, let weeds like dandelions grow and flower as they’re often one of the first food sources for bees in the spring. Creating a safe haven for pollinators in your yard contributes to bee conservation, especially as wild bee habitats are shrinking worldwide.

We offer a variety of seeds that allow you to plant a diverse range of pollinator-friendly flowers that bloom throughout the season. These flowers provide bees with a continuous food source, helping to prevent colony collapse: https://www.mannlakeltd.com/education-crafts-gifts/seeding-forage/

The invasive Asian giant hornet, known as the "murder hornet," has been wiped out in the U.S., marking a huge win for pollinators! šŸšŸ’Ŗ With the help of citizen scientists and innovative tracking methods, experts eradicated the species before it could devastate honeybee populations. šŸŒāœØ No confirmed sightings in 3 years, but officials remain vigilant to keep pollinators safe.

Did you know?!

šŸŒ³šŸ Trees and bees have some fascinating ways of communicating:

✨ Electric Signals: When a bee approaches a flower, there’s a shift in the flower’s electrical potential. The bee senses this change, revealing whether another bee has visited or if the nectar has run low.

šŸŽ¶ Sound Waves: Believe it or not, some plants can emit sounds! Roots may produce a crackling noise at 220 hertz, and curious seedlings will orient their tips toward this sound.

šŸÆ Nectar Sweetness: Certain flowering plants have a sweet surprise! They can enhance their nectar when they pick up on the vibrations of a bee’s wings.

šŸ—ŗļø Spatial Awareness: Trees and hedgerows help bees navigate their environment, allowing them to create mental maps for efficient foraging and pollination.

šŸ” Cozy Shelter: Trees offer bees a refuge from heat and harsh conditions, ensuring their comfort and safety.

🌼 Pollen & Nectar Provider: Trees play a vital role by supplying the essential pollen and nectar that bees rely on.

šŸ  Nesting Grounds: Many species of bees find their perfect nesting spots within the hollows of trees.

Together, trees and bees create a harmonious ecosystem that supports life! šŸŒæšŸ’›

Hey beeple!!! Tonight I am having a bit of a rough time. I’m just being honest… I know I am truly blessed with an amazing family, a beautiful home, an business where I get to meet and befriend wonderful people and abusiness that takes care of us… but tonight I feel overwhelmed.

Tis’ the season though. We have a lot to do to keep our dream from becoming a nightmare. We walk a fine line of being too comfortable and keep moving forward. We push even when we are being pushed back!

I share this because I know I am not the only one feeling this way. This time of year between holiday, New Years, visiting friends and family, and just everything. It can build up.

I want you to know, you are not alone, you will be ok… we will be ok!

Even if you don’t know me, know this, we all struggle, I struggle, and we will get through this!

Life is not meant to be easy, but it is meant to be simple! They are not the same thing. Don’t make it difficult, just take it one step at a time. Most important, keep going… !
