Last year I wanted to make a donation to MAHR to save a horse in memory of my dad. "Shark" (JC name Great White) was that horse. I first met him standing on a trailer in the parking lot at New Holland. Bev walked him out of there and he went on to spend a few months at MAHR's beautiful farm getting back on his feet. Then Amy Jackson of Fair Hill Equine Therapy Center called looking for a quiet horse to pony thoroughbreds to and from the track and Bev knew Shark would be perfect for the job. Fast forward to last Saturday when I went to see him. His rider Michelle Hurley very generously let me shadow her for the whole morning and put up with all my questions. It was fantastic to see Shark in this beautiful setting after last seeing him at New Holland. He has a cushy but important job and like the other horses there, is treated like a king. See pictures in the album of him leaving New Holland, doing his job at the center, and generally living the life.
Special thanks to Bruce Jackson for his hospitality.
