Our Story
We're a small, family owned business offering doggie day care, cage free overnight care, in home pet care, and dog walking. We serve Elkton, MD, Newark, DE, and all neighboring areas of MD, DE, & PA. We're conveniently located on the DE line, a very short drive from Newark, & close to I-95 & southeastern PA. Our owners are wholeheartedly “dog people” who have been working with, training, and most importantly, loving dogs for most of their lives.
We specialize in small, constantly supervised play groups in a large activity yard-outdoors on real grass! And when the pups are indoors, it’s a comfortable home setting for them to relax in. No cages or confinement--not at night, not ever! We have no more than 12 dogs at one time because even though we have a large enough play yard to accommodate more dogs, a smaller pack size ensures the safest, most enjoyable time for everyone. Smaller groups allow every pup to receive plenty of individual attention so we can cater to their own special personalities. All dogs are unique and they each have their own personal needs and preferences, which should never be ignored. It’s very easy for kennels to overlook a dog’s needs when one person is looking after 40 dogs.
Many dogs feel anxious, irritated, withdrawn, or even fearful when overcrowded in a space with countless other dogs. This often creates a volatile, unstable situation for your cherished companion. Rest assured that your fur baby will never feel neglected or be overlooked when they’re with us because our atmosphere is completely opposite of a kennel’s. We're absolutely NOT a kennel. We’re a cozy, home away from home for your best friend-giving you the peace of mind you deserve so you can actually relax on your vacation! No one wants to go on a fun getaway and constantly worry about their beloved pet who’s stuck in a cage or trying to navigate a jam packed yard with 50 other dogs.
LHDC is a place where your pup can truly be themselves. In fact, some dogs prefer the indoor life, & that's fine too! They can hang out indoors as long as they'd like, in our cozy, home environment, and go in & out as they please. They’re never forced to stay outside if they don’t want to (although most dogs do love to play outside with their furiends ;). No matter what your dog's personality, there's a place for him or her with us. And if you need someone reliable to come to your home to feed and walk your dog, we’ve got that covered too! We even offer grooming services for dogs that are here for day or overnight care! What’s better than picking up a freshly groomed pup after their stay with us? Our clients often refer to us as their dog's second family because that's truly what we are. Each dog that spends time with us is treated as a member of our family and we treasure our relationship with them all.
