One of our clients has to go to Seattle for three months for medical purposes and is looking for a foster for her 5 month old puppy Ralphie. Ralphie loves other people and other dogs! Food and vet care would be covered by owner.

It's National Animal Safety and Protection Month, and we're celebrating Zazie Todd's latest book. It's a must-have for anyone with a fearful, anxious or reactive dog. The training advice is useful for anyone with a dog, fearful or not.

"The debate shouldn’t center on whether aversive methods work or how quickly they produce results, but rather on the impact these methods have on a dog's well-being. All dogs can thrive with positive reinforcement when done correctly. Positive reinforcement works on dogs—it’s us who find it challenging."

Balanced dog training using positive reinforcement (rewards-based) methods and aversives (physical punishment) is no better than simply using force-free positive methods and love.
