We are happy to welcome Dr. Allison Shobe to the practice full time starting today. Many of you may have already met Dr. Shobe since she has been doing relief work at Dunloggin for the last year. She is a wonderful veterinarian and we are very excited to welcome her to our team.

Due to the inclement weather today, Friday, January 19, the hospital will remain closed.

We currently are without internet. Which means are phones are down as well. We have contacted our IT company and they are working on it.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

12/14/2023

Monday, December 18th we will be upgrading our software during lunchtime. We will be able to field phone calls, but we will have to place orders, prescription requests etc, after our software comes back online. You can still come in to pick up prescriptions and food, but we won't be able to accept pay at that time. We will send you home with an invoice and have you call back to pay later that day.

We expect the outage to last about 90 minutes.

We do apologize for the inconvenience; however, this is necessary.

Thank you for your understanding!

News reports about this unknown respiratory virus affecting dogs have created a bit of panic for my fellow dog owners. There is no need to panic if your dog develops a cough but is otherwise acting okay (ie. eating, drinking, not lethargic). This unknown illness is thought to be a virus and we do not have specific treatments for it. Treatment is symptomatic supportive care. Signs that your dog may need help include: if the cough keeps getting progressively worse over several days; they won’t eat/drink; the cough is productive; or your dog is listless and has no energy. Thus far we have not had an uptick in cases of respiratory disease at our practice and hopefully it will stay that way.

As more cases of canine respiratory disease pop up throughout the U.S., we want to share a few best practices to ensure your dog stays healthy and safe this holiday season.

Good advice. I have been guilty of making these mistakes in the past but always willing to learn how to do training better.

Annual exams for cats (indoor or outdoor) help us to keep your kitties healthy. Not only is this a good time to provide any necessary vaccinations, it also helps us to establish your pet's baseline normals. Knowing what is normal for your pet helps us to recognize disease early and provide early intervention.

For both indoor and outdoor cats, vaccines are important in preventing diseases caused by viruses or bacteria, says a Texas A&M veterinarian.

Great information from the ASPCA to keep in mind about toxicity of human heart and blood pressure medications for our pets.

With hearts on the brain this February, the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center encourages everyone to stay mindful when using some common medications around your pets. Read the APCC’s spotlight on heart and blood pressure medications and how they can affect your pets!

To Our Valued, Loyal Clients
We will be making changes to our current hours effective February 2023. We will be closing 2 Saturdays each month and we will be closing at 6:00pm on Fridays. In order to prioritize our current client base, we are not accepting new clients at this time. We will see new pets of existing clients.
We have made the difficult decision to make these changes to prioritize our staff’s well-being which in turn allows us to practice better medicine.
We have been short-staffed for over two years. We are typically a five doctor practice that is currently operating with three full time doctors. Hiring a veterinarian has proven very difficult given the shortage of veterinarians nationwide. As we continue to search for a veterinarian(s) to complement our current team, we have Dr. Kimya Davani, Dr. Kim Cross and Dr. Allison Shobe, relief veterinarians, working for us on a regular basis. The relief veterinarians have been very helpful in enabling us to see our clients in a timely manner; however, there are still more patients needing care than our schedule can accommodate. As such, burn out is real. Our doctors and support staff are working more hours than scheduled, and the doctors are coming in on their days off. Like you, we have families to be cared for, and lives to be lived to the fullest. The status quo is no longer sustainable, thus the aforementioned changes.
We appreciate your understanding, patience, support and loyalty as we continue to adapt.

Always a good reminder with holiday where chocolate is a common gift.

Looking to share a Valentine with your pet? How about this one:

"Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm sorry but this chocolate is not for you."

No matter the type of chocolate, the best thing to do if you think your pet may have gotten into some of your chocolate is call your veterinarian. Have a safe and ! ❤️🐶🐱❤️

Just like other inheritable health conditions, some breeds are more susceptible to certain types of cancer than others.

Knowing what kinds of cancer your dog may be prone to developing can help you know what signs to look for.

Please note: This is not an exhaustive list of breeds or cancer typess for these animals. This is general information about the most common things we see.

Good Afternoon,
To all of our clients who have placed orders on an online pharmacy, we are processing them. The sickness bug came through the hospital and several different staff members have been out sick so we are behind. We appreciate your patience and we hope to be caught up by close of business tomorrow. ~Andrea
