Puppies minutes after birth. Color surprise, 5 fat blue fawn and fawn

Sadie delivered 5 robust blue fawn and fawn pups.
All are doing well

The whelping box is good to go

Sadie had her X-ray and pretty whelp exam. All is perfect and she has only 5!
If you were serious, there are only a few to go around.
I am keeping one. Another is promised

Sadie Day 53 caught playing with a babble ball.
X-ray tomorrow for a count and pretty whelping exam. So flipping excited.

Well this Friday, Sadie will have her x-ray on day 54.
I sanitized the whelping box and I'm washing tons of laundry in anticipation of tons needed. I need to make my list of tools and whelping equipment. Then go and assemble it.
I'm starting to fret as Sadie won't slow down. She is still playing and getting into stallion wars with her bestie, Saluki Desmo. She is still running and jumping the 5 steps up to the porch. I think I'm going to start leash walking her. Thoughts?

So today is day 39 of Sadie's pregnancy. The fetuses now look like little dogs. They develope pigmentation and eyelids! My poor Sadie is on three feedings a day but I am going to add a fourth light meal, maybe yogurt ( i use the 5 % Fage Greek plain yogurt for ¹me and the hounds) or egg or ricotta cheese before bed.
My preparation has begun with rearranging furniture, setting up the whelping box, get indoor outdoor carpet for the inside of the whelping box and for the area that will be ex-penned in. I'll start posting photos.
BTW, 63 days is the gestation for dogs. Sadie is more than half way there!!!
