LONG POST WITH LOTS OF INFO!
The rescues that are ready for adoption are:
Elian and Ivie (2 mini ponies) who we would like to be adopted together, but are open to splitting them up for the perfect home. They are roughly 6-7 years old and have lived together their entire life. They are super sweet, love to be groomed, good with kids and definitely pretty to look at in the pasture. They can be put with horses as they can definitely take care off themselves š«£.
Swayze is a 10.3 hand hunter/jumper pony. He is only 6-7 years old and would excel with his own person. He is SUPER lovable, great with kids, stands for farrier, stands to be groomed/bathed and self loads onto the trailer. He had a 30 day refresher with a trainer as he hadnt been ridden in a few years. He can be a forward at times but is honest about it. Has been in a lesson program as well. He needs a child that has previously ridden. We do have a video of him at the trainers as well as lessons if you would like to see him. He has so much potential and would love to see him with his own child ā¤ļø.
Horses that will be ready for adoption in 3 months:
Tonto is a 4 year old black and white paint gelding. He is going to make an amazing horse. His training just recently started so we will see what discipline we feel he would be best at over the next 3 months. He is a beautiful mover and a beautiful horse š!
Scout is a 9 year old paint mare who is absolutely gorgeous š„°. She is Tontos momma. She had 3 rides on her previously, but needed to be restarted, so her training just started as well. We will see over the next 3 months which discipline she will be best suited for.
Indie is a 4 year old absolutely stunning appaloosa mare. Her training has not started yet, but will in the next month. I am super excited to see which direction this girl will go. She has so much potential. Her facial expressions will crack you up. She has the best mean girl face if youāre late with breakfast and dinner š¤£.
Adopted rescues:
Atlas and Summer have been adopted by one of our amazing volunteers that absolutely loves them to pieces. They will be going to their new home in the next 3 months. Atlas will learn to ride and pull a cart š!
Charlie is being adopted by an amazing woman who was one of the reasons we were able to rescue Charlie, Otis and Lettie. Charlie will be going to his home within the next month. Hes the sweetest boy š„°!
Otis is pending by an amazing family that has gotten 2 donkeys from us previously. If they decide to adopt him, he will be leaving around Mothers Day. Hes going to be a hard one to let go. We have all fallen in love with him š.
Sanctuary rescues we have are Willow, Jasper, Rose, Molly, Zoe, George, Buddy, Jesse and possibly Lettie depending on if we can get her hooves corrected. Jesse needs a companion so we are ok with Lettie living the rest of her life here if her hooves cannot be fully corrected.
Once these horses have been adopted out, we will take in more rescues on a case by case basis. Iād love to be able to replace each rescue that finds their forever home with a new rescue that deserves that same chance to have their forevers, but getting in donations in to help care for these rescues has been exhausting. Until we grow and start getting more funding, we wonāt be able to do that. We pay more than half of the operations of this rescue out of our own pockets and have sacrificed so much, but we cannot sustain doing this on a constant basis. We have to be able to live also at some point.
We will be doing fundraisers for each horse which will cover the cost of the rescue as well as 6 months of care for that rescue before we will agree to bring them to BHFERS. That way we have the funds in advance for their care. No this amount wonāt be small, but it guarantees that I wont feel like I have to beg weekly for donations. I hate that oart deeply. Iād rather fill my posts with daily updates and videos on each horse we have and all the love and care they are receiving š„°! This will limit the amount of horses we are able to save, but every horse saved is a life savedā¦
We will grow and have more monthly donors eventually to be able to have a larger number of rescues here again and I am so excited for those days to come! To ALL of our supporters, WE APPRECIATE YOU MORE THAN YOU KNOW and the successful rehabs that youve helped make possible, would not have happened if it wasnt for you!
š EXCITING NEWS! We are getting more acreage cleared so we can have more pastures! This will be completed in the next 3 months! I cannot wait to be able to allow these horses more room to run around and pastures that we can rotate and allow grass to grow! We will also be adding a small arena!
Big things to come and Iām so excited about our future, we just have to be smart in our decisions to ensure that future happens! Share our page with your friends, come to our events, volunteer to come out and help. These are all ways you can help make our rescue successful. These equines rely on all of us!!
