Hey everyone!

So I am going out of town on my cruise and leaving very early Sunday morning. I’d love to get this fundraiser complete so we can go ahead and get the feed delivered before I leave so it’s a little less stress than I’m already dealing with 😭.

We have received $141 total towards the $500 goal.

Who’s going to be our Angel donors to get this fundraiser complete 🙏🏻??? We’ve been short on funds coming in for the past few weeks. I know it’s tough around the holidays but please donate what you can. We have 16 rescue mouths to feed and we cannot do this without you!

We need at least 6 winter blankets!! If anyone wants to buy one from the online auction, WE WOULD APPRECIATE IT! We need (4-6) size 74s and (2) 72s! This would be a huge help! We also need feed scoops, halters, lead lines, and brushes!

These items will also be on our AMAZON CHRISTMAS WISHLIST that I will be posting later!

The Gilmer County Warming Center NEEDS OUR HELP! Yes we are an equine rescue, but we also like to help the residents of Gilmer County when we can also! With 2400 followers, we should be able to get at least 9 volunteers but the more the better so we can split up the time more!

We need to put together a group of 9 volunteers minimum. The 2 volunteers that sleep ar the facility must be 1 male and 1 female. Male will sleep on the male side and female will sleep on the female side so husband and wives would be great or grab a friends husband or wife to be your volunteer partner!

INTRODUCTION
The Warming Center is a division of New
Beginnings, which is a coalition of community members representing churches/organizations throughout Gilmer County. Volunteers helping with the Warming Center come together to ensure that those needing shelter or warmth during extreme cold weather have a place to sleep indoors, a warm meal, and transportation to and from the Center (if needed).

We will have 1 week a month from Dec-March that we will be in charge of.

NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
• Point person/manager of the Warming
Center responsibilities of the week – 1
volunteer.
• Food – min. of 2 volunteers
• Transportation – min. 2 volunteers should drive together—these are not the people staying at the Center
• Set up/Overnight volunteers – min. 4
volunteers (at least 1 man and 1 woman) are needed at the Center each night. There should be 2 sets of volunteers to rotate or provide back-up in case someone can not make it.

Total Minimum Volunteers: 9 (only 2 volunteers per night needed to stay there)

VOLUNTEER HOURS
Arrival time: 4:00 PM
Departure time: 7:00 AM the next morning

When you arrive, come in the side door on the left of the building (meeting room). During the week, there are basketball games going on until 8:00 pm and on weekends there may be a scheduled activity, so we will set up in the “classroom” which has its own door on the left side of the Civic Center.

HOW WILL YOU KNOW IF THE WARMING
CENTER WILL BE OPENED?
Gilmer Emergency Management (Al Cash) will be making the decision to open the Warming Center based on the forecast. Al Cash will be notifying the leads and then they will notify their volunteers. The decision is primarily based on the forecast of the National Weather Service, so keep an eye on that site.

Dates The Warming Center will be opened when temperatures drop below 32 degrees more hours of the night than not, between October 15 and March 15. So this isn’t an every night type of thing.
